According to the interwebs this is a drill press. There should be a chuck in the part with the handle.
Well......I'll be a monkey's uncle.
I thought it looked like a drill press, but the v thing at the bottom threw me off.
Best part is I now see it's actually worth a few bucks on ebay.

First thing I was wondering about is if it was a pipe vice. Vee makes it for drilling round stock.

This is the type of stuff I like to have around just because. Hang it on the wall for a conversation piece.
I'm accumulated a lot of it in a hurry at auctions around here......gonna have plenty to talk about i guess.

I'll have to post up some of the oddities and deformities we find going through my grandparents garage as we sort and throw stuff away. Several pieces of transmissions on the shelves. Dad said grandfather had a truck that they had to go through several transmissions before getting one that was good. Probably late 40's or 50's Ford, he couldn't remember exactly.

Got a call 10 minutes into my commute to work asking if I wanted the day off. Quick u-turn and back home I am. This has been the project put on hold for a while so I will work on it today. Going to use this on shop and knew when I started I had to get everything done in one day. Once I pull the loop and mast I have to patch the roof, soffit and siding. Maybe it will cause it to rain today when I start working on the roof.

Glad it's a warm toasty day. Makes pulling apart old shingles that much easier. Quick coffee/water break and then on to making a patch and putting the shingles back on.
