No rain here, some thunder, 2 obnoxious sound machines & screaming grandkids were happenings here last night.

After episode 2 of screaming grandkid, I got up & was greeted by essence of chitty diaper as soon as I entered the kitchen.

Garbage is hauled out & coffee is brewing.

All the rain was IA/MO border south & north along I-80.

Looks like the Hoskey boys may have gotten a good shot overnight as well.

I was born in Joplin, raised in the Kansas City area through high school and have lived in the Spfd area for 46 years. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just plain too hot July and August and too cold in January and I can’t (won’t) do anything about it. I like this part of the country. But I’ll still wish it was January when it’s August and wish it was August when it’s January.

I was born here; the summer weather sucks.

I did about 4-5 hours of tree work on Friday and Saturday; it was miserable; the heat takes the fun out of it. I think I was near death...

Anyhow, heading to church to get my worship on. Carry on...

Actually I think it's the bats and the tree frogs keeping the skeeters down. Just my opinion. Glad either way.
Likely enough, I know bats can make a huge difference in the mosquito population.

I have heard that skeeters overheat at around 85-90° and become way less active.....but maybe it's fake news, idk.

I do remember a few years ago, we were setting heat records for a couple week stretch. Thomas remembers I’d bet..
got so hot you couldn’t find any ticks or chiggers. I’d start cutting around 6:30 and by 7:30 or 8:00, I’d sweat empty and head to the house. We hit 109 that year IIRC..

That's a high price to pay for reduced bugs, but at least it's a positive.

It was a brutal year..
Thought it was the worst on record, but the neighbor said 55 and 57 was worse.
They had to sleep in the front yard under the hay wagons..
