Only problem was the ticks and I used Deet like it was free.
I know it is not a popular idea among log cutters, but wearing panty hose under your pants will keep the ticks from biting you. Using them may help cut down on the amount of Deet or amount of reapplications you might need too.

Afternoon everybody.
The spent at the Stamp was great, got lots done. Only problem was the ticks and I used Deet like it was free.
Back in the hospital now being treated for tick diseases.
That really sucks, it’s the chits when a fella can’t be outside in nice weather without getting mailed by ticks.

Are they deer ticks or wood ticks ?

Don’t know. Kind of dark with a white dot in the middle of the back. My Grandmother called them “Yearling ticks.”

Did you test positive for a tick disease, or are you pre-treating just in case?

Morning crew, already 71° and muggy. Time to get picking in the morning before the day job. Pie time of year.
Let me know when that pie is done.

I have noticed the mulberry trees & goose berry bushes are loaded this year.

We are getting some rain today, hopefully it will help the raspberries & blackberries get going.

I had one similar a couple months ago, just thought it was a young wood tick.

Little prig was really dug in, broke out in a rash about 4” dia. around the bite point. Had that rash for a couple weeks.

I sure hope you don’t suffer any complications from the darn things chewing on you.

Sounds like Lyme disease. Did you get treated?

No, never heard of any deer ticks in this neck of the woods.

I am not saying they aren’t around.

Didn’t you have a bout with the stuff ?
Yes, I pulled a tick and broke out in a rash, like you stated. I thought I had an infection. Went to the doctor; he took one look and said that is Lyme disease. He put me on medication (antibiotics) for 2 weeks. Treated it early; I never had any symptoms that I know of.

Those are gooseberries, damn bitter & sour when green.

If you can get them when purple they are sweeter & tasty but the birds often times clean them up quickly when they start to change color.

They are great in pies but require some sugar, ok a lot of sugar.
