I think maybe more water......or less water....

Planning to mess with it till we figure it out..... in our "spare time" lol.
Did a quick read on wet fill cellulose last night and there seems to be a happy point where everything just works right. But I also noticed that even in that there is a lot of it that doesn't stick and a fair amount of cleanup and sending back through the sprayer.

You read it right.....very steep learning curve with this stuff.... I can't charge the bil for experimenting, and couldn't keep practicing for free.....so, fiberglass.

The moisture content is very important... trouble is, as soon as you start to cycle the moistened "overspray" back through the blower it throws off the moisture so adjustments have to be made, and that is all going to be based on experience and "feel".... but with no experience....therein be the problem.

Unfortunately youtube is lacking on this subject.

My nephew had a local guy put in closed cell spray foam. It turned out slick. I don't know the $$$$ difference.
Foam is 4x (or more) the cost, works very well, and regardless of what who says it can cause sweating, unfortunately.
The guys selling / installing it claim it doesn't cause moisture problems but I've seen it quite wet between the foam and metal roof.

My best guess is that it wouldn't be a problem if they wouldn't spray it directly to the underside of the roof but leave some breathing space like we do with any other material.

That makes sense with air space.

For foam I would assume they should install rafter vent panels. Around here you would have to make sure they were spraying closed cell. Lots of places will make a low quote and spray open cell instead. Too many years of dealing with the general public and seeing how people live and conduct business, including things I have payed to have done, have left me a little skeptical. One of the reasons I do everything I can myself.

Case in point. Oldest had a fender bender about a year ago and I asked the local body shop for an estimate for only on bumper cover and fender buy and paint with me doing the install. Almost $2000. Bought everything myself and painted in the shop. Got the experience and all the equipment from doing it myself for about same amount. Now I have the equipment and can do some other projects in the future.

Afternoon everybody.
Spent the past 3 days finding kitchen sink drain line and replacing 15 foot
2 inch pipe
I hate working under the house.
I absolutely , positively hate it.

Did I mention I hate working under the house?

How can you see moisture between the foam and metal roof if they sprayed the foam directly to the roof?

It has begun..

The only hedge deck around.

At least the only one I know of.

I thought you put one on for yourself or a family member a few years ago ?

Maybe you we just thinking about it.

Should last a lifetime.
