Good morning, Gentlemen!
-11 here. No fresh snow during the night.
I think we have around 6 inches out there.

Had to start filling the stove 3 times a day to keep up in this weather.

We are blessed to have a good stock of wood, and a roof over our heads!

And coffee. Glad we have coffee...

I am Blessed to have this week and last week off.

Had surgery on both of my feet.

Our oldest daughter & her family live on the south side of KC, her & her husband were all fired up about the rolling blackouts also, I told my wife to wait until they get their next gas bill from the city, since natural prices have went up exponentially also.


My sister lives in Maryville MO just across the border from us & said they are having rolling blackouts there also. It must be a KCP & L ( or whatever they are called now ) thing as they provide power to the city of Maryville.

Now on the other hand the local rural electric cooperative in Maryville, is Nodaway Electric & provides power to my folks here in Iowa & they haven’t had any blackouts. I am a on rural electric cooperative based out of Southwest IA & we haven’t had any blackouts either.

Going right along with the blackouts our daughter & son-in-law wanted me run right down there and put a wood stove in for them, I told them to check with their homeowners insurance company to see if they will insure them with a wood stove then to check with their homeowners association to see if the will allow one & allow them to store firewood on their property. They were appalled that they had to check with with the homeowners ass. about wood stoves.

I said “Really??? These are the same folks that told you that you can’t leave a car parked in your drive over 24 hours & told you that you can’t park your boat beside your garage. Maybe you should of read the fine print like was suggested before you bought your home. Welcome to the *s-wordty.”

Speaking of *s-wordty a month or so ago the city was out cleaning the sewer lines & neglected to tell the folks in this little area was going on & also apparently doubled up on the pressure they usually run because they were in a hurry. They kids came home to overwhelming stench of sewer inside their house, the first floor bathroom was flooded with sewage, it shot up thru the toilet hit the ceiling and was all over, blew the drain pipes apart under the kitchen sink seeped under the wood flooring & ruined the kitchen cabinets. I have not heard back on how financial responsibly is turning out on that debacle.
