Son's Bronco 2 project has been at a snag for a month or two. Started losing injector operation. On Ford's mfi system they fire the injectors in banks, not individually. It's a V6, so all three on left bank fire at the same time then the right bank fires all three. Now, the injectors have power all the time and are fired by the computer controlling ground. When the computer grounds a bank, that bank fires. It allows the system to operate faster. (My theory, anyway).
Sooo, he stated losing one bank, then the other stopped. We figured time to check his wiring. He's had it apart so many times he lost count. Spent better part of two months probing pin connections from the computer, through the harness and all the sensors that ran the fuel injection. Everything always checking good. A few days ago he found an oxygen sensor shorted to ground. Ordered new ones and installed them last night. Still no joy. He was mad to say the least. And frustrated.
Driving home today, he thought of something to check. He's had the computer connector apart so many times and would push the test meter lead in to get a firm connection then take the other lead to the other end of what he was wanting to test. The connector has female pins. By pushing the probe in, he had inadvertently spread the pin open enough that it no longer made contact with the corresponding male pin in the computer. Computer was no longer able to ground and operate the injectors. Squeezed two pins a fraction closed and fixed it.

Runs great now. Time for a test drive this weekend.
