We had some weak running baby stihls
That took huge timing advance. ....
I thought my buddy was nuts, the factory
Timing had to be wrong. It was a full key way or better the saw was really weak
But came alive. .... well for an 017
He did another like that. .... then another
Went to crap when he advanced it
And it liked very close to stock

Pulled another box saw off the shelf yesterday. Husky 50. Dirty as sin but cleaned up pretty nice. I like this one, really a simple saw. Runs good too.
Found a bar to fit but will have to get a chain.
I think I've found enough parts to put together another 455 Rancher, too. I like those saws.
Scrounging around this evening on the other storage shelf and came across a Poulan Pro 255 all together. Brought it to the bench to look it over and was pleasantly surprised. Very clean saw. Put some fresh mix in it and it fired right up. Adjusted the carb. This little thing has got some snot to it. Again, pleasantly surprised.

I've never done a timing advance. Yet.
Have to pick one from the pile to experiment with.

I still need to back off the 9010 a bit. It's too advanced and pops a bit in the cut...

Morning everybody.
Out of 6 cabinet drawers I've got 3 installed and 3 boxes made. Have to cut the bottoms for the last three, put on the slides and install them. Then make the face fronts. I'll be using fence pickets again for that.
Looks nice!!! A friend has a 220v cabinet grade table saw (forgoet which brand) that was about $800 in 1979... It may end up in my barn before too long... Then I'll be doing some shelving and cabinets.

I'd like to run a ported 5100S for a day while actually cutting more than cookies just to see what I thought compared to the rest of the inventory.

Currently waiting for Brookelynn to come home so I can start further assembly also the baby is laying on my chest lol
Cherish it. I loved snuggling with my babies and still do, though it's not quite the same. I was able to spend a lot more time with my daughter at that age than my son and unfortunately, it shows. My tombstone will NOT read: If only I'd spent more time at work...

I really need another stove in this house for this kind of cold... The stove has been going full-tilt and the heater is still cycling on/off frequently.

On another note, I took an ailing friend about 1/4 cord of wood as he was out and was going to need the stove to help through the cold snap. I will likely be going to cut a bunch of dry Hedge soon and gt him at least 1/2 if not 1 full cord to get Him through what will likely be His last Winter...
It's a crappy deal, but that's life.

I had an old Suzuki 500 twin 2 stroke once. I advanced the timing about 10 degrees on it. Ran like a raped ape but you had to be very careful starting it. Kick start only. Almost put me over the handle bars once. My left leg was sore for days.

I've always gone more than that.
If they don't bite ya when starting, it ain't too far.
Some of these dumb little saws respond
Odd ..... maybe the crappy / limited coils
The one little stihl 170 I think
Ran weird before it bit back.....
The one I haven't done that needs it is that sucky 026...... boring saw lol

A ported 026 can be a little animal but stock, they're dead-reliable, though boring, saws. My late F.I.L. had one that he treated horribly but it cut loads of hedge for the stove and posts for pastures, w/basically no maintenance other than sharpening the chain occasionally... It would barely run when I played with it at the estate sale, and was so coated w/hedge dust that it had likely gained 2 lbs. A quick blow off with an air nozzle and a tune with a screw driver and it was running good enough to cut with. Had I bought it, it would have gone for the "driver dip" and then gone to the Monkey for some banana stuffing...

I known they are reliable saws.
I guess the A.S. crew built them up
To be really strong when I was just
Starting to mess with saws.
I might mess with mine
Some more to see what it can
Get out of her. It does handle well :)

It probably won't there's a squeak coming from it i figure I torqued the jug bolts unevenly or beveled a port wrong. That's OK tho as long as when it blows it doesn't take the bottom end with it. Top end is $35 all day. No problemo hahaha
