Where did you catch these?
Neosho river by Miami. Lots of people hitting Spring river over by Moccasin Bend area this week as well. Last one I caught on Thursday was a hybrid about 7lbs. We called it a day after that to end on a high note.

Question…
I’m fixing to put a 390xp jug and piston on a 385xp..

Bolts right on, but the piston skirt clearance to the case is super tight..

Has any of you guys done this before?
i know it will go the other way as i have done that. seem like awol had done that but it eludes me at the moment. for some reason i thought the 385 and 390 shared everything but jug and piston?

Well, they do, but that extra mm of skirt size makes the clearance of the skirts half a mm closer to the case.
The tighter is actually a plus, but not if it touches while running!!

doesnt look very flat. who built that?
I believe it to be Moody’s 385. He built it when he was working for Scott Treemonkey up in Wisconsin. He traded it to me for a 372 and then I ended up selling it to a neighbor who sold it to another neighbor who sold it to another neighbor who finally brought it back to me with a smeared piston.

Picked up a couple dirt stirring tools for Sam the other day, he's wanting to learn about such things but I don't know much about it.

Any of you guys know of any good resources for a young aspiring farmer? maybe some good books you can recommend?

Obviously moving out of the Ozarks would be the first thing to do....but that's not an option at present.

He has had decent success "plowing" his garden area with these, but we're wanting to get some material for him to learn the basics of field prep.

Cylinder is absolutely salvageable..
It’ll just take some time and chemistry.

Saw was an animal when I and the first neighbor had it. Jug is worth saving, but I ain’t the one to be scrubbing on it.

Look for some used book stores and pick up some basic gardening ones. How big of an area he working on? I need some sand and loam for mine, may have to look at some mushroom dirt when they get rid of it in Miami. That is for a later date though. Stocking Up is a good canning and preserving book to get if you can find an older copy.

For best results, understanding what type of soil type you have and relative depth there of is the first step.
The second step is soil samples, and they are not cheap. But at least they tell you what you’re working with.

Morning all. Cold again at 37°. Back to the grind for a few weeks. Should be a short day today so I can get back home to get some other work done. Shifter coupler and inner/outer tie rods on the Subaru and then it should just need alignment and inspection. Anybody want to help replace a VW diesel timing belt and install a STC on a 6.0 powerstroke?

Timing belt is due on Brenda’s Passat in 4K miles.

I going to farm mine out.

It’s easier to work OT at work and pay someone else.

There’s a guy in Belton, MO that several of my friends have used and have been very happy with.

He specializes in VW’s
