Great farwood weather!
Found some pretty "dry" white oak....

Couldn't get the hydro splitter to start, so we used the power of teenage hormones......kinda handy sometimes having a boy who's gotta prove he's the bull of the woods.
Yeah, there's a bit of cedar in there....this customer really likes it.

Somebody swinging an X27? With straight grained wood I can split faster than worrying about the splitter.

I had plans but the flame thrower & tank are froze to the ground so we're not melting the ice off the taco ma door lol if I'd just bought the tires that will be put on today last week I'd saved the tow pulling me out of the drive for the mini van

Yep, x27 we all took a turn at it....pretty easy splitting stuff this time, so no big deal the hydro had a bad attitude.

Same here. Those X27’s are a pretty handy weapon for firewood.
They are the only axes we use for splitting.
I've split who knows how many hundreds of cords over the years and I have no desire to use any other axe.....that I know of anyways.

Mother had a rib feed Sunday, since nobody else feeds their dogs scraps mine get all the fat, bones & scrapings.

The pan was over flowing & had a gallon can full of misc. stuff.

Slap some fat, bones & misc. in a big skillet, melt it down & add their dry food.

Makes for a nice warm bowl of porridge for them on these cold nights. All that fat seems to make for nice shiny coats.

They seem to get really excited about, my wife thinks they are spoiled…

Looks pretty good....I bet they enjoyed it!
I don't care what people think, fat is good stuff.
Our dog has never had town dogfood, he eats all the stuff natural dogs have been eating for ever....seems pretty happy.

I would feed them more deer as there is no shortage of them here but the methane they produce after eating venison is intolerable.

Looks like extra drivers today so I was offered the day off. Think I will try to get a few loads of hay moved out here. Roads are still slick farther north so I don't expect a call about a tractor being brought close to home today, but that would be a bonus.
I will go get the tractor for you and drive it down. Call your insurance company and add it to your policy first, 🙂

Falls under my farm policy and as long as you are buying the diesel for the 10 hour drive. Called while loading hay at parents today and was told next day or two for the transfer. Chances of slick roads and the time it would take kept me from making the trip myself today.

I also have an older Fiskars super splitting axe. Little heavier head, shorter handle and wider wedge shape if I remember correctly. I use both of them a fair amount but the X27 a lot more now. Shorter handle feels a bit strange, you really need to put the log to be split on top of another one.

That's what I had at first also, the one with the shorter handle and bigger head, soon's the full length one came out I never used the shorty again.

Another cold morning at 15° right now. Thursday it is supposed to get above freezing. Mom called to ask about the wreck out by my house yesterday afternoon and wanted to know where it was at. I didn't even know about another one in the area but the local news had some coverage. Couple miles from house on back roads again, not sure how it happened except there is a jog in the road where that bridge is. I guess no one around the car when it was found and I drove that road Monday night and it was not there. I'll check in a bit to see if anymore information is out yet. Have to use wife's facebook to see since I don't have an account. Joplin news first facebook if anyone would like to see for themselves.
