Good morning folks.
Coffee's much better today, thinking is that not needing to get out of the house for travels to the city may be making the positive difference.
14f here overnight and currently, claiming 18f a bit later, and then mid single digits for the next few overnights.

I’m going to try and get most of the equipment on site where we piled the logs the night before, so all we gotta do is show up and start processing.
Bub thinks he has 2 dump trailers and a barn available to dump the splits into, keeping the weather off the stuff and the kids can stack it as time allows. I informed him that pecan don’t weather well.

Need any more iron? I've got a 25 ton County Line I could throw in the truck if you have enough hands for it. Sounds like you have tractors and such covered.
Not 100% sure at this point..

If ya want to throw it in for insurance, go for it.

Good morning! Been a while but have been in contact with several of the guys outside of the thread. Always good to hear from everyone. Went to Joplin yesterday to inspect a Peterbilt for an extended service contract. Picked up a Mitchell chainsaw in Joplin and dropped off a McCulloch to Russell at his work in Monett during my travels.

Can you still harvest after it snows?
Yes & no

The snows builds up on the ears & it either needs to melt off or be really cold when you harvest it.

It either has to be cold enough to not build up in the sieves ( lsingle digits or below ) or wait until the snow & ice are off the ears/husks.

When it does snow during harvest there are always reports of a couple people junking their machines because of them freezing up.

So basically if the snow is getting carried into the separator area, it will build up on the sieves & allow your grain to be carried out the back of the machine.

As your machine runs you can get enough heat to melt the snow/ice & then that liquid will freeze up over night, when guys engage the threshing unit the next day it will bend/snap shafts, smoke belts, bend the sieves & other nasty stuff.

I remember years ago my dad going out about 9:00pm & running until sunrise, the temps were in the single digits to below zero.
