Some interesting clouds on the way home this evening...View attachment 383686

That's looking north east towards Mansfield/Norwood, but I thought the possible rain was coming from the west this time.... maybe it already missed us.

No, the weather *a-holes just can’t find their ass with a hand full of needles..
They really are the dumbest among us..

I seemed to drag it down from St. Louis after 8 pm. Got down to Des Loge/park hills and power was out, maybe further east even. Got a few miles due north of my place, power was on, gas station still open. Pee stop and 1/2 price pizza. Raining not as hard as up north and east but it may sink in. Lotta liteng strikes, loud and near.
@Sawdust Man ,hope it reaches your neck of the Ozarks

I'm looking for the best, home/hobby, bandsaw mill. Don't need large diameter capacity or more than 9 1/2 -11 foot carriage travel. Blind buddy has a stack of sticks that he's hoping to get boards from. CS mill too much waste for the diameter. I've got a batch of rd cedar that wood be better from a bandsaw than lopro even.
From this knowledgeable crew there is prolly a few suggestions.
Thanks ahead of time

There's a brand new mill not too far from me on craigslist...

My biggest gripe with the cheap/entry level mills, is the log clamping system is a total joke for small logs that don't have enough weight to stay put on their own, like our cedar.
Otherwise most any band saw will be a big improvement over the csm.

I think the Hudson mills are a good value... though they lack some of the "pretty" factor of many of the small mills, they are super simple made with standard parts & pieces, so they'd be easy to repair or modify if need be.

I had a Norwood mn27 for a very short time....it worked pretty fine....other than that worthless clamp.

Whatever mill you get, buy woodmizer blades......they are very hard to beat, and usually cheaper than the competition.
They sell blades to fit about any mill out there.

Wood mizer and Norwood are hard to beat..

But if a guy can find a HUD-son cheaper, I wouldn’t be afraid of one.

Wood mizer is like a John Deere dealer.
Some of their stuff ain’t the cheapest on the market, but they got it and ship fast.
They seem super committed to being in business for another 50 years..

I had absolutely horrible service from Norwood..... like they never sent me an entire box of parts to put the mill together....it included all the guards /shrouds for the band wheels among other things.... it's really interesting running a mill with zero guards....

They wouldn't even talk to me on the phone, and never returned my calls.

Pretty much cured me of needing another Norwood mill....ever..

Woodmizer's service is pretty excellent most of the time.

CSM 4 me is in its own for slices over 22" log. Have 3, 27 inch wide white oak slabs and have cut a maple crotch that took a 60" b&c to reach across. Good money on large slabs since any bsm that has that capacity is out of my$$$ range and not around here.
