Not putting any more in the barn for now..
Just been stacking it on a pallet then moving it out of the way.. 100 degrees and no rain has this *s-word cooking like it’s in a kiln.
That looks like white oak...Meeeee Tooo....

I took a heat detector to one of the pallets sitting in the sun. The surface temp was 120 degrees..That's no joke. My pile of logs and rounds that need split are drying so fast and getting cracks in them so big, they're gona split themselves soon. Maybe not, but they are splitting like crazy, just sitting there. I guess 2 months of mostly 100 degree days will do that
Our neighbors, Dick and Barb Sunderland, have lived in Jasper county since about 1930..
They are excellent people. I’m pretty sure they’ve seen just about everything in their 90 years of farming. Dick has run about 400 acres forever and Barb worked for the local John Deere dealer for 35 years.
Dick has given me priceless perspective on the Agricultural situation over the last 10 years. And weather perspective... “priceless”..
Barb passed away 2 days ago.. Lisa and I went to the funeral today..
If a measure of a person’s affect on others is how many people attend the funeral, Barb just hit a grand slam... the building couldn’t even hold the people today. There were folks standing outside..
several hundred all in all.. color me impressed..

Seems like there’s always too much junk wood..I’ve been trying to get caught up splitting also, making some headway but still got a ways to go. None of mine goes inside except what I will burn over the winter.
I finished filling in this stack

There is still a fair jag left in the old truck & the junk wood is starting to overflow my trailer. I need to find someone with a boiler to sell it to.
