"New to me" tractor. Was my uncle Jim's pride and joy before he passed away several years ago. Me and my dad went to pick it up maybe 10 years ago. We drove almost non-stop to Washington from Nebraska to pick it up. Was parked behind some buildings with a stuck transmission. Won't forget how dad knew just what to do, pulled the shifter, moved a couple gears and good to go. Put a battery and gas in it and with a little starting fluid started right up. Didn't get the implements due to weight concerns so left them. Can't remember what all he had but my dad did find a trucker that would deliver them so I will get those as well. I know he has a blade and sickle mower but can't remember the rest. Not sure what a city girl will do with it, but I can't say my neighbors will be surprised when they see it (LOL). Maybe snow removal.
My son drives grandads JD 40 in parades & tractor rides all over Iowa. It’s a narrow front. He has been looking for a wide front 40.

I saw a lot

Love the sound from the JD twins. As you know this one is pretty small, 17 hp I believe. Think it has the orchard exhaust so no stack. May look for a muffler for it. To my knowledge, it is all original.

Does it run?
Or you gotta do some work to get it that way?

Hasn't been run in a few years, but dad did service the fluids and oil after we brought it back. I am betting that putting a battery and fuel in it and it will take right off.
Get some good fuel to keep in the tank..
The old timer will thank you..
If you can get to Springfield, the oil and octane shop can hook you up with the stuff that stays good for 3 years and don’t draw water.

Hey Carl..
can you make this thing run??

Comp is too low..
But I like the shape.. be a good carving saw.
Runs on a prime.

I had the unfortunate experience of working on one of those for the Ranger at the Girl Scout Camp a few years ago.
Never again.

I dinked with it for about an hour one night.
Decided it may not be worth the effort.

And if the Carl says hell no, that confirms the suspicions!!

No.
We (I) are cheap. We stopped at a rest area and used a picnic table.

Just made it to Stickney, SD.
We are spending the night here. Got an AirBnb. It is an entire house to ourselves. So much better than a motel for a big family.

My parents were the roadside picnic table kings.

Dad got a two burner propane stove from Sears.

Between that and the huge ice chest we were set for breakfast & lunch.

Sometimes supper to if we stopped at a grocery store.

Once you hit about so many bodies..

Just get a house and let it all sort itself out,,,.

Enjoy your vacation..
