The biggest hurdle is spark. The coil insulation has a tendency to crumble with age. Depending on the model, there's a military surplus coil that works well. It's inexpensive and a hot firing booger too.Bendix Scintilla magneto?
There is a ‘work around’ for them.
Use a Wico coil found on Homie XL-101 types and Remington SL-9 types.
