Had a customer come in to the shop today driving this. 1929 model A pickup. I thought this old truck was awesome.
Well, had a rain day, so I started building my toolbox recessed back. I’m pleased with it . My welds are NOT pretty but will hold. I learned I’d far better pushing the weld rather than pulling. I can see the seam, and can see the puddling. Full heat works well with 030 wire in this little machine. Learned about bending steel even with tack welds. Will put the plate I removed into this later on in the week. This should hold a 25 and 36” bar just fine when it’s done. 2 sizes of angle iron on this.

G'morning folks. Thanx for sending the rain here. Been dry for a bit. Even watched the radar for rain in Kansas heading East yesterday, vertical came across state lines and then the south end diminished as it came closer.Rainy day in Branson. Here for a wedding.
Morning, gents.Oh my Lord today was rather spectacular. Got a call from a former colleague that he had a big oak that fell into and was hung up in other trees. An arborist told him the only thing was to climb up there and start nicking off limbs till it fell. So I go out there, and sure enough, AND it’s barber chaired eight feet off the ground, a two foot oak. Also it sitting on another tree that is bent over. Lot of unpredictable factors here, lot of energy stored up in the mess. The Echo pole pruner wouldn’t drive the extension pole, and then I lost the clamp knob in the grass. This was all about thirty feet up, so I thought I’d have to bail on the job. I tied an extension ladder to another tree, got it between me and the mess, took my trusty chainsaw-on-a-stick, and started nicking pieces off the hangup closest to me. Several cuts where it was hung up, because the angle was awkward. Got it released and the whole thing fell to the ground, including the barber chair. Very smooth and rather spectacular, and rather fortunate. I wish I’d taken a before pic, this would be one for the business Facebook page.

Morning, gents.
I'm sorry if it sounded like I was tooting my own ego horn on this post. I didn't mean to be doing that. It was a pretty big deal for me to figure out and execute this process, because barber chair hangups are often the source of oopsie-type bad outcomes LOL, and the fact that it went off so smoothly was just amazing to me. I am really enjoying the learning and growth process here, and I really appreciate the encouragement and camaraderie I get from you guys on this forum. It is humbling to be so blessed.
Hope your day is productive and satisfying. Today I go out and help my buddy Rich McConnell, knocking up and hauling a bunch of walnut logs somebody gave him. Busier than a one-legged soccer player.
Be safe out there!
