Spent some time last night putting the friendship saw back together. Laid out my parts on the table. Everything there. Came back to it today to install the clutch assembly. Everything still there, except the e-clip. Spent an hour looking for it. No joy. Went up to the dealer and bought another one, got it home, put it in place and holding it with my thumb. Put a pair of pliers on it and PING.
It disappeared. Spent two hours looking for it. Again, no joy. Went back up to the dealer and asked how many they had. 3. Bought all of them. Got back home and put up there again. Thumb FIRMLY on it. Popped right into place.
There must be a black hole in the den somewhere.

Like a BOSS....what is the occasion?
We got a pretty good deal on a friend's timeshare and had yet to have an adult vacation since having kids... We figured we'd see if we still really liked each other. So far She hasn't run off, so I figure that's a good sign!!

Carl, I'd love to but it isn't quite as warm as I had expected. I'm not complaining, as I know that home is colder than a witch's titty in a brass bra in the Yukon, but I was expecting slightly warmer weather. The water will cause shrinkage and I can't afford that penalty!!! :risas3:

Got the 180 back together. Surprisingly, the filter assembly already has the holes in it for the carb upgrade. (For the carb adjustments) I just had to drill matching holes in the outer body work. Runs on prime, but apparently not pulling fuel from the tank. I've read about a brass plug that needs to be pulled on the back of the carb and another that needs to be JB Welded. Need to investigate that further. On a positive note, compression is up very nicely. It's coming along. When it's done I would like everyone to put their signature on it.

Well, I spent pretty much the entire day on the lathe. Made a bullet car for my buddy's son, and spent the rest of the time trying to figure out how to make spheres. I ended up with these. I'm trying to make a sports themed mobile for Owen's crib. It's a lot harder to turn spheres than I had imagined.........

The resulting aftermath can be seen here.

I also tried turning some locust just to see if I could use it to practice with. That did not end well. Apparently all my locust wood is full of these bugs. Anybody know what they are? They don't look like termites, but I'm not sure. They were almost into the center of the chunk of wood I was turning. I wasn't able to use anything out of that log. It started out at about 4" in diameter. It had holes from these guys until about 3/4" from the center.

Those are locust borrers.
They'll get into hackberry too.

Any harm to anything else? Structures, etc? Never seen them before, but looks like they've chewed into all the locust I have.

They're nasty bugs and good cause for a premature death (and a chainsaw induced dissection)...

Hah!! Fixed the carb on the friendship saw. Reading about the carb upgrade for MS180 said the upgrade carb has a brass plug that lines up with the impulse port on 180. The new carb gets its impulse from a slightly different location on the back of the carb that doesn't quite line up with the boot to seal it. Hence JB Weld in the unnecessary port. Remove brass plug so it gets impulse.
We'll see tomorrow evening.
