Yes it does. I have seen it get in the dirt and still cut wood. I use 27AX. 404 semi full skip 063

Thats what I'm doing then bang it out with a sledge. Yes people look at me crazy as I stick it in the ground but hey stump be gone lol. Oh and thats only a 8 inch stump lol.

And I'm try to get a .404 setup just need to find out how many dl for a 24" bar?

Last thing I do (if I do not call someone to grind it out), is to drill some 1/2 inch holes and fill them with Root Kill.
Over time, whatever was there will just turn to powder.

I'm a little impatient and that was directly in my mowing path. I'm using a free saw! Plus I don't own a cordless drill just wouldn't useit enough.

I prefer to use Thomas' saw for stumping..
