Is a 500xl a desirable saw? If so one on eBay seems fairly cheap but kinda rough and probably scored.

Ouch on the shipping. Its a good looking saw, looks like a fun project.

It's actually an xl500. And they are basically an xl12/super xl with different cc rating and paint I think.

I wanted to put a sprocket nose bar on this saw. They handle the 3/8’s chain they come with fine but I had this .325 bar that fit. 9 pin sprocket works quite well. Sitting on the beginning of a wedding cake stand it was shaping.

Got my Homelite EZ running good today thanks to @Stump Shot for rebuilding the carburetor. Homelite 360 also got a rebuilt carb, but still pours fuel out the muffler like crazy and won't start.

Is that with the saw in the "run" position, no choke? I wonder if you have a bent rod, I have had that issue when one gets bent and when in the correct position it inadvertently puts the choke on and floods.

If you can't find anything else wrong, bring the carb back and I'll go through it again. Make sure you have GOOD spark first.

I had the air filter off so I could see that the choke rod was functioning properly.

Had a friend furnish me a parts saw a while back that gave me the incentive to put together a running 5-30.

Someone called me looking for "complete ignition" for a C-51, the only other information he could provide was that it has a Tillotson HL141D carburetor.

What am I looking for and where might I find such items?

I would assume he is talking about the coil along with the points and condenser, possibly even the flywheel, but that is a guess.

Page 2 on the linked IPL Leon's Chainsaws and Repair - Homelite C-51 IPL would list the parts with part numbers.

This one was dropped off this week. The fellow said it came from the Waterloo (IA) airport. Does not appear to have been used very hard.



I already had this one on hand.



So, now I have a Left and a Right in addition to one still in the case...I can't find a photo of it right now.

Showing my ignorance, are these two completely different saws, or are the cutting attachment parts reversible?
