I know they are different. I think the earlier ones are points and later solid state. I know my parts saw is different than my runner. Someone will be along that knows more than me.

Yeah,my Mac bars interchange. Some of the Remington also.

I pulled my recoil. Looks to be solid state ignition. I can get you a pic shortly

Like I was saying in another thread, I didn't own a old saw till about 3 months ago, poulan 306a I got for cheap. Very clean saw just needed a carb rebuild and fuel lines. Since then I've accumulated 8 old saws running and not. 306a, MC 33 x2, MC 250 x2, MC pm850, Homlite super xl 925, and a 2100cd. I'm hooked

D196 is also used by the larger Poulan, Partner, Pioneer, Echo, etc. saws. They can also be used on the Poulan Pro saws that call for a D007.
