Does anyone know if there's a site or any way to identify a Stihl saw off just serial number? Gifted to me no markings other than serial looks to be 50cc range do not have pics at the moment it says made in USA on recoil. Looks like a 026. It's not a clamshell. Thanks in advance

10-4 did see part numbers inside the top cover. Are any pro saws made in USA or all German
Lots made in Virginia Beach, in the current saw line up the ms362 is the cross over point.
Some Germany made some USA. Any saw smaller than that will be USA made usually if for sale here. The only change would be a shortage maybe and they had to fill in with German built. They all use the same parts anyway no matter what plant it’s built in. I have my original 026 red lever that I got new in 1991 that was made in Virginia Beach. Also no matter what anyone tells you an 026 is a pro saw weather it has pro or not written on it. The pro is just adjustable oiler and decomp button vs the standard 026.

Thanks for the input I'll post some pics in a hr or so hopefully it is a 026 bc I'm in need of a 50cc saw. Definitely not a red lever

The red lever does nothing despite what some say like it’s some magical power adder. Must have been cheaper at the time to make red plastic vs black.

It’s probably an 024 super or 026 if it has the big filter. I know lots of if not all 024 standards had a small filter and top cover that wasn’t flat

That isn't too dirty, there are worse. Here is an 026 I worked on, I didn't think to take a picture of the clutch area or the flywheel side. This thing almost got up and walked away by itself...

Just wait until you work on a saw that someone has put transmission fluid into for B&C oil....that stuff stinks and is a mess.
