Has the 661 been proven like the 066/660?

Nate - I don't have issues with my M Tronic saws, run em all you want it won't change anything. I think a lot of folks try to start them on Start when they are warm and it floods them. Same thing will happen to a standard saw if you use Choke setting when it is warm. Flooded saws don't like to start, does not matter the flavor.

Jeff, I will not be making CT this year, it is in Tax Season.

Yea, I understand, you change the rules as you go along to fit what ever you want to say.

Looking forward to it, let me know if you want me to bring the gloves, we can put on some entertainment for the troops.

Promise me you'll wear those ones almost up to your elbows you cut firewood with so you don't get a splinter ? .. those are my favorite..cute.

@sawmikaze I have noticed the same thing....firewood guys usually seem to have decent luck with autotune/mtronic, and they are definitely willing to ignore and put up with issues that a pro will toss a saw for. its the guys putting 2-4 gallons a day thru a saw that want nothing to do with mtronic.

A saw should be reliable and enjoyable to use, not an aggravating POS, especially when its a $1200 saw. we will see just how reliable or not the second gen is as well as the fuel injection on the new saws. when i cut/sold firewood i had a jred 2260, good saw, great power, but it went down the road really quickly because i wasnt dealing with the hot start issues. a warm saw should start in 1 easy/ half a ssed pull, not 1 pull 50% of the time and 2-4 pulls and an occasional 8-10 pulls the remaining 50%.

The odd thing is the ported 661 I have to just dick around and have fun with never does it..2017 model, but then again I don't use it often either.

You get a stud or a dud with these saws, it's literally split down the middle with guys I know..they either love em' or hate em'

I'll bring a set of 14 oz practice gloves so it won't be too bad on ya.

I used my new 661 today in ct. I ran my 660 661 back to back w/ same 28" bar and RSC full comp chain to compare. I'm amazed on how great the 661 is. It had more torque with less vibes. The weird thing was, the 661 produced bigger chips. Same bar/chain as the 660 was sporting 5mins prior.

It's funny hearing people talk about m-tronic saws like they are tier 4 diesel engines. They are put together the same way as your old saws you've been running. I think most just fear change.

The 661 might as well be a tier 4 diesel when you have one that pulls the won't start hot crap and you have to go looking for a second man to hold the trigger flat while you pull it over, not having a zip tie handy and all.
I found the less you reset (don't reset the saw at all) the hot start issue seems to go away in a few weeks with daily use, reset the saw and its back! well thats in my experience with them anyway.
Only question I have is how does redbull get any hrs on a 661 having only owned a measly 15 or so of them must be busy lol. I used to get years of daily use out of one saw more so the older 660/066 the 661 meh happy to be out of that game now.

I don't own a 661, but I have been impressed with the ones I have run.

You gonna be at Upstate NY?[/QUOT

If I go to the ny gtg, I wouldn't be able to stay long since it's a 4 hour ride back. Probly have to leave by 2.

Don't hold me to it, but I heard bad solenoid will make saw flood out.
