Jake, yep yer right on the money. C83 sharpens nice like lgx 3/8. I got a loop of LGX $30 for 36" bar, free shipping. Plunged a 36" bar into a heavy leaning 32" diameter cottonwood, ported cs 8000. Wasnt jumpy in such a longe plunge cut. Didn't even have to twist the handlebar, was smooth as fk. This saw, the AV is too hard, so I know real fast if the chain isn't smooth. That’s what I loved about lgx. Filings would roll off that stuff even if you had a slightly dinged tooth several strokes it was back in business and held up pretty good for me
Dropped 3 more bout that size, then went dull. Winblown glacial silt in that shaggy bark. SMOOTH chain. Folks have forgotten about lgx 3/8.
