Thought it might be fun to see what you guys have seen among some of the less refined chainsaw trash out there lol. Here’s some of the stuff I notice among the local firewood for profit crowd.

They almost always use home owners saws, mostly bought used and half running. Most of the guys here would rather spend $150 every month or two buying beat to death saws instead of laying out $600 or so for a used pro saw in good shape.

Used motor oil for bar oil. This is my most hated habit because it makes a saw absolutely filthy to try and work on.

Their saws are always missing the operator presence lever, and most of the time has a broken chain brake handle because safety is for little girls.

Bars that are way to big for the saw. Nothing like watching a poor MS250 with a 24” bar and a dull chain being beat to death.

What have you guys seen?

Around here I see a lot of people running homeowner saws. They don’t abuse them with too long of bars , but some of the deeper maintenance is forgotten.
