A lot of coyote hunters toss their kills up in a crotch of a tree, if they're not going to take it home for the hide. Last I heard, coyote hides were like $6 per hide unless you had a particularly nice one, so it's not worth the effort of dragging them out and skinning them.

That’s what I was thinking, got it’s leg stuck while thinking and trying to get the food just up on that branch..

Coyote got caught jumping up after coon, coyote died, coon starved waiting for coyote to go away. Or coon was injured before climbing tree, then died.

Kinda reminds me of the late Jerry Clower story about his "Coonskin Business" that bottomed out after mailing over 500 pelts to Sears & Roebuck...they sent him a check for a dime!
