I'm so sick of this rainy weather...been doing the same thing except with tarps. I like the shed so much more than tarps! Hopefully it warms up soon so I don't have to go on 6 months with loading the stove.

Wow. Nice Rob. You going to mill that big stick?
Did you have to climb and cut it in pieces to get it down?

Funny story there. The house who's property it actually sits on is owned by an old friend's mother. My friend and his wife are in the process of buying it and we are gearing up to do some major renovations. Prior to that his mother had abandoned it for the past five years or so. The tree has a huge rotten spot at the base and we were worried about the damage and death it might cause depending on when or where it decided to give up. So we had already gotten a price on removal from the tree service I moonlight with, who is a damn good friend, and my friend who owns the house next door with the detached garage was going to pay to have it taken down for peace of mind. Fast forward to this year when the kids are taking over. I told them I have a guy who is going to give us a heck of a deal. Well they talk to dear old mom who says if anybody is doing any tree work it is going to be another company! Of course I've been friends with the owner of the other company for even longer. We just don't have the working relationship I have with my other friend who is local to the town. I politely bow out of the situation as I know better than to get in the middle of family affairs. There's enough headache just trying to get the owner off her ass to get all her *s-word she abandoned five years prior, but cares so much about, out of the house. In the end they ended up paying about 1800 more than my friend was going to charge for all the tree work. Two big white pines came down at my friend's place as well, but cumulative price was that much more...

So I was not an active part of that those removals, just a conscientious observer who still saved them some money by keeping all the firewood sized and bigger logs.

I did however love that tree! I kept a permanent throwline in it to pull up my climb line. It was one of the tallest trees in the neighborhood atop the hill from the little town of Loveland, OH. You could see way across the Little Miami River valley to the King's Island amusement park, which is about an 8 mile drive away. My favorite tree to monkey around in, climb to the top to enjoy a beer and watch the sunset!

Have already started, but I will get to that in another thread. One end stayed elevated. Only made a couple passes so far. Spent most of the day cutting to length and rearranging those big old logs just to be able to get started. Didn't have any equipment on site and had to use el manuel labor lol. Could've borrowed the dingo, but the big section I was after was for too heavy and too tight an area with the logs it was setting on for machinery to be much use.

Down in Selma at my Aunts house, running a few errands. This is some oak & maple that's been down about a year.
Noodled a few gnarly rounds and tossed some smaller chunks aboard for a decent load. Broke the pull handle once again on my MS 660!!!
Used a stick to get it crunk...
There's enough for 3 more loads...they ain't going to nowhere...so later for em!!
