That stringiness says Hickory to me as well. but not Shagbark Hickory. It may be Bitternut Hickory.

That is "flat Earth" country, easy work compared to all the hilly surroundings in my area.
Damn, I need at least 2-3 weeks of no rain just to access my most remote property with my tractor and it is just 10 minutes uphill across fields from my house by foot.

You could make a fair and honest $ in my area processing that stuff to 40" length and quartering it up (preprocessed firewood)!
In my area access to trees and getting them out of the forest is the biggest concern when processing firewood.

I got a little this morning. We couldn't cut long due to my son having plans. We used my scarr 592xp and my scarr 550xpg to cut up some blowovers. Everything was blocked to 26" for a owb.

Got the rest of the honey locust from last summer split up. I am pretty sure a little over 2 cords, 1.5 totes already here at the house, a tote for @Wood Doctor, a pile plus another tote that I filled today with overflow going in the pile. Will need to work on getting it moved and stacked here at the house for use in a few years.

I helped a neighbor clear some huge rose hip last Saturday, their stems were nearly wrist thick.
We burned all of it, nasty thorny stuff!

We recovered a strip of up to 3 meters wide of his property cutting that stuff down.
It grew over from a neglected neighboring property.

Most of the stuff that's hit the ground so far this winter... Two alders, a hemlock and a couple big firs.

Here's a ragged siberian elm tree, I took down for the neighbor. This tree was beyond a hazard and he has kids. So, I helped him out.

The tree lost a leader, so it was really heavy to one side, hence the reason for the angled hinge.

Tossed an 18” bar on the 066 and went cutting on the pile. Definitely silly but I haven’t run it in far too long and all but forgot what it sounded like !! Ran a tank full through it like this and put the 24” bar back on so I didn’t have to bend over so far lol

It’s not the size of bar that matters, it’s the size of the engine pushing it

I’m one of those Minnesotans that says “it’s not THAT cold” when it’s -15f. It could always be -25f and windy. That’d be worse lol.

Made some logs. Moved them to where I can get to them. Been wet all winter. I’ve usually got all my firewood cut for the year. Maybe get it cut up next week. Split on it here and there. Maybe a 6 wheeler load plus. Should be enough

Good advice. I have also been given quite a few chainsaws that were wrecked by skid loaders. Some could be saved, but over half were damaged beyond repair. Most were large Stihls that looked like they had been run over. Parts required for the newer m-tronic Stihls that were damaged cost as much if not more than a new saw. That's the way it is these days.

Ground was frozen pretty solid this morning so I skidded out some ash firewood logs. Already got the saw logs out and milled last week.
