They also make R1 bars which are laminated bars.
R2 are solid steel bars.
R1 and R2 are for chainsaws, the others are for harvesters.

I really like my Iggesund Forest R2 36" bar!

Just wondering that how much would archer chains cost if it were made in Australia.....?

RV
If manufacturers were to lower their profit margins I doubt the cost of the chains would be significantly more expensive.

The greed for ever more higher immediate profit of the few is making the working class into slaves.

I'm having trouble finding any info on their chainsaw bars, only harvester bars. Do you happen to have a link?

It has been a while since I last looked up Iggesund Forest bars and info.
I just did and indeed their official website does not list any chainsaw bars, no R1 (white with black writing) nor R2 (black with white writing).
Maybe they discontinued the chainsaw product line in favor for the harvester products?!

Iggesund Forest dealer map.

But I think it is not up to date.

Thanks for your effort. I looked at the map, and the only NA dealer doesn't even list Iggesund Forest products in their line. Bummer.

I don't think Archer themselves actually make anything. Likely an office block full of suit wearing office staff and computers. There can often be more money marketing product sourced overseas than trying to produce it yourself in a high cost environment when there are already big players that will likey do it better than you. Archer competes by price in the marketplace. They may have designed their filer guide and a few little things.

Too hard for folks in N.A. to pronounce.

Seriously, has to be a hard market to complete in.

they say they have their own factory, which in China, may mean that they “control“ it, rather than “own“ it. Similar to other companies.

Basically the state owns everything in China. One way or another.

I spoke to a local engineer about this. Some people went to countries like China and asked them to make something 'as cheap as possible'. That's what they (and we) get. His company has 'their own' factory in China, where they can control the quality of the components and the work, while benefiting from lower labor rates and other savings. That's why we can get some pretty high quality computers, etc. from there.

There may be reasons to support things made in the USA, or to dislike certain countries or trade practices, etc., but 'Made in China' should not be a synonym for poor quality. I don't know who really 'owns' the factories, or who the employees actually work for; probably a lot of diplomcatic, contractual, and legal stuff involved. The benefits of forums like this is receive feedback from end users on how some of these products perform.

They are/were less expensive than same sized OEM bars. :)

My 36" R2 bar was under 100$, I do not recall how much exactly.
One 36" bar, two 115DL Carlton chains and two aluminum cast wedges came out to 130€uro.
