91 year old neighbor wanted dead tree's cut off his fence IMG_20220805_090140939_HDR.jpgIMG_20220805_090318917_HDR.jpg
The maple had 3 no trespassing signs and old fence through it and was holding up his new fence IMG_20220808_195921351_HDR.jpg
I hit like 8 nails we pulled it off the fenceIMG_20220808_190159571.jpg
My friend wore his steel toed Crocs and stepped in cow piss/*s-word as soon as he got out of his truck
I found this amusing
And he wanted to try my 266IMG_20220808_190332589.jpg
Apparently it has a bit more power than his ms310 he got stuck.

Same here I can find anything harder than a 30+ dollar chain in a tree
So I switched over to 11.00 china chain that's all I run anymore
Does me fine.
I am running archer on my long bar. It’s fine. If I knew I had really good clean wood to cut I’d switch to Oregon. But yeah for the most part I can work with bout any ol chain

I'm headed to the sonoma coast, few pines to takedown. 2 part job, climber and I couldn't get our crew together for today, so going to dismantle a pine owner is concerned about, today then go back the 3rd to finish.

One pine, engulfed in everything today, and shaped like a banana. Limbs heavy and windwhipped.

Pine removals, one endangering a house on the coast. Take downs, chip all brush, haul wood off. Took 2.5 days we earned our money.

I can't remember if I showed this before or not .At any rate I've got a big old cottonwood that up and died on me and I need the approx. height of it .I guessed it right at 100 foot before I checked it out .Using a 100 foot tape ,a pipe vise, a 4 foot level .protractor and precision electronic level ,got it .I came up with about 91 to 100 feet which is close enough .
It's just HS trig solving for side opposite and knowing side adjacent .The tangent of the angle works out to around .91 give or take .I don't have a laser range finder or a transit .Best I could come up with from what I had .
It's got a little lean to it but I'll hook the dozer to it just for insurance with two 1" nylon ropes and 200 feet away .This one will shake the ground ,around 5 feet in diameter .

This late fall or winter some time . I've got time because it was about two weeks ago all the leaves fell off .I'll get my bud with a bucket truck to rig the ropes .He'll likely cut and I'll run the bull dozer .I can't do both .
I'll get the 084 out to make sure it's running right or the avatar saw with a 48" bar . It's seldom those big guns get out and off the shelf . Typical collector ,40 some saws and only use two or three .Guilty as charged .

Three D4 Cats and right now none are runnable . The one I have at the house is an OC 6 Oliver ,about the same size as a D2 Cat with more power .It's basically an Oliver super 77 on tracks ,about 9,000 pounds and 34HP gasoline engine . That one I rebuilt from the tracks up .In low gear you can't stall it .At any rate small as it is it's got enough to tip that cotton wood .
Eastern black cotton wood is of the poplar family .Not real good firewood nor it it strong like oak .However it doesn't split out like oak and when it dries is good for things like outrigger pads .Unlike oak it gets lighter as it dries and oak remains as heavy as lead. A lot of poplar trim sold is cottonwood but most people don't know it .There's a lot of board feet in that thing unless it breaks on the fall .
