ECHO Echo, Echo, Echo

My only Echo is a muff modded CS-510. She's been dead nuts reliable for the past 13 years. I don't get to cut much with anymore but I crank and piss rev it from time to time.

I got 1 of those and love it. I need a new muffler for it now

I've had a few echos and liked every one of them. So when I saw a good flea-bay deal on a echo cs490, I jumped on it. Thought you gentlemen might enjoy this nice little muffler mod project.

Saw bone stock and brand new in 12ish inch green wild cherry:

I pulled the tube from under the deflector and cut the front off of the deflector.


Nothing fancy but, I cut some simple gills on the other side of the muffler.



And now it seems much happier.

In both videos I have the saw set a bit rich because it's brand new.

68.00 OEM they are out there used but it can be tough.

Mine is almost rusted out and I have looked for another one and like Jake mentioned above, a new complete muffler and gasket is around $68 to $48 plus shipping.

I'm wondering if I should just make a different muffler fit the saw. That's more than I paid for the saw. 6 bucks for power head. Bar n chain around 30. Yeah it needs a pocket bike pipe on it 1 day in the future

You got that saw for a bargain then. I'd love to see a pipe on that saw.

I did a pipe on my poulan 46cc and it took well to the pipe. It did have the glass filled silencer for a couple years then just recently went to a straight stinger and it's frickin loud

Well guys a new exhaust will cost too much for a cheep priced saw. I can't justify paying 70 bucks after shipping for a new tuna can. So if the wife has a good night at work and is in a good mood we might order this up to make fit a echo cs510
