Anyone seen the new Echo CS-2510TES? On paper it looks pretty nifty....2.3kg....1.2kw.....apears to be the lightest top handle on the market. At $799au I'm giving it a miss but....

Yeah, this one is the PPT-280 and I bought a 4-foot extension, as well. I originally had my heart set on buying a new Stihl HT-131 this year, after renting one a few times last year. My new dealer sells both Echo and Stihl and after reading some other folks' opinions about the two, I went to see him and believe it or not, he has some branches he puts up on the flat roof at the back of the shop (also has logs for trying out saws) so I got to play with both pole pruners. The Echo was the hands down winner. Two feet more reach, uses 3/8 Lo Pro .050 chain, nice handle that really helps with holding the weight of the extended saw... I just liked everything about it. Dealer put it together and set it up while I watched (he doesn't mind me being back in the shop area and he always sets chainsaws and all the other equipment up with gas and oil while you wait)... and he gives honest recommendations about stuff. He said right off the bat that he thinks the Echo is the better tool. Good people... small, family owned business.

I have an Echo PPT-2400 and used to run a Stihl HT-101. Echo 2400 is better than Stihl HT-101. Two years ago I tried the Echo PPT-266 and is much better than PPT-2400, so I think Stihl has no chances vs. Echo in power prunners line.

For a clamshell engine they are packed full of potential don't sell those and keep em running hell a good muffler mod goes far with them and timing advanced
Yep, both of mine are very good runners with only an MM, though I did install a new piston assy in the 510.......These saws came with the SAIS2 ignition module (slope advance ignition system) that would increase ignition advancement as RPM's increased, so I'm not so sure changing flywheel location would really help that much, I could be wrong though.....

I had the ppt260 and loved it. One thing I can add. Put you a loop of stihl PS3 PS chain on there. About 20% faster out of the box to get through them limb cuts over head faster. No fun holding them puppies up for hours. So IMO every little bit quicker helped.
