Transfers set at 119

Intake squared up just a bit, didn't want to get into the ring ends.

Like a glove..

Almost...

Can't find the new handle av mount, will rig something up and order another...

I know, and I am not criticizing. Your work is clean. I am merely suggesting a different approach. You could have started with 22 degrees, and worked your way up if you felt the need.

Thank you for the compliments.

Main reason is I really hate going back into a saw. I'll just build another one. Have 2 more, maybe a 3rd yet to build.

Next one is getting a 268 piston and I will try more blowdown.

I did think of leaving it at 123, but figured I would split the difference. Never ran one stock so kind of shooting in the dark.

What do you think will be gained with more blowdown?

I do think it will empty the cylinder better, maybe a bit more pressure.

Guess I figured the factory kept blowdown short, for the "echo" torque. That stretching it just a bit would be a good compromise.

I think many factory cylinders employ less blowdown because of the restictive exhaust they are mandated to run.

Once you unrestricted it, you may over purge, even with the factory settings.

Your work is very clean Joe. I'd be proud to own a saw done by you.

I woulda left them at 124E and 125I, but that's just my opinion.

Try the next at 103/124-125/80 if you'd like. It may be a dog, but only way you'll know.

I may be very much incorrect here, but I don't set my transfers based on blowdown. I do consider it in the equation. I set them based on jug design, intake duration, and the changes I make from the intake port lip to the roof of the upper transfer. A lower exhaust can tolerate less blowdown.

BTW Joe, did you call "that guy with the saw"? I'm off this weekend.

Thank you Al,

I gotta fight the urge, and keep one stock for a baseline.

This is kind of a tween saw, bigger than 60 and smaller than 70.

I like 103/4 on 60cc and 100 on 70cc.

I'll try your guys theroys on the next one.

I do appreciate the feedback.

Keep it coming

1.99$ av mount, if it was black it would look more factory.lol
Even have a spare set for when those wear out.

32 looks real good, seemed to pull pretty well for sub 70cc.

The chain adjuster is stripped out, no brake band but once I get those fixed, I think this will make one hell of a firewood saw.

Might open the muffler a bit more. Think it is still a bit choked up.

Need to get some more time on it, but already thinking bout the next one.

Want more compression. Gonna guess this one in the 180-190 range.

Think I will try keeping the transfers 121/2 be cause I plan on dropping the jug more, don't want to make em to big.

Little bit more intake duration. Like to keep it 80 or less, think I will start running out of carb with much more.

Plan on using the 268 piston, might try some bridge ports. Or fingers. Think the next one will be a dual port. 6700.

Just got my 268 piston today.

Definitely the way to go, make a nice flat band in the chamber. Looks to be .025 is taller than the stock piston definitely more flow potential.

Try and get some pics up compared to a stock 680 piston

Husqvarna 268 piston is on the right of all pics. And the newest echo 680 piston left.

268 piston skirt is 1.39 wide. Just at 70% of the bore. But the exhaust outlet flange would be non existent at 70%wide.

Plenty of skirt to avoid free port

Looks like .020-30 would have to come out of the band to set squish, before even cutting the base.

Have to find a scale but definitely feels lighter, and a lot more flow potential.

Looks a lot better with the bark on, chain would have been shot before it got to the wood. All full of sand. Old saw logs nobody ever picked up.
