800/8000s are the same way....bulletproof as can be and can lug a big bar all day and just plain cool but just not an attention getter....I'm gonna give this one my best shot....echo really had it figured out with the 45/4600s of this generation....them saws will really sing....it's funny they didn't work harder at the bigger saws.

Have a 4600 thread started, hopefully get it finished up later this week.

Might give me some insight for the next 6700/670/8000 build.

The 670 looks like it has some grunt. Actually, it appears to like tractoring along. You pulled it down in the RPM and it seemed to shine there.

Is the 044 stock?

I believe the 044 had a gasket delete and a dual port cover.

The 044 has a bit more comp as well 170 vs 160 for the echo.

I am very happy with the results. About as apple to apple as one can get as the chain want tailored to either saw very well.

The 670 sounds like it would be a good saw for real work.

Thank you,

670 is definitely a saw to a truck full at the end of the day.

Scary thing is my 590 was noticeably stronger/quicker with 20-32" bars...

Still have a few ideas left to try on these 670/6700 saws. That was my goal to make em close to the stock 044/365/72 saws.
As a ported 670 is cheaper than most of the others lol.

I've always been a fan of the underdogs. It ain't about speed when working up a load of firewood. I'd rather use a saw that you can reaf on when it gets in a bind than a fast saw that falls on its face when you load it up heavy. The Echo seems to have lugging ability.

That Echo is moving pretty good. Unique sound to it.

Your 590 sounds like it would be a nice one saw plan, especially if you were on a budget. I might have to look into one of those at some point. I rarely see them on CL around here. Lots of 310 and 352 types.

Niko? Is that you???

Nope, but it is someone that really has run the CS670`s and maintained a few of them for a local woodyard. Have actual experience at teardown and rebuild from the crank up, unlike my friend Nikko...;):)

Red97, you carry on with your builds, I like what you do and have likely read every thread you have posted on all the sites. I just had to poke my friend Randy and let him know he was not only preaching to the flock and the ordained...:)....Not meant as a derail, carry on...:hello:

No worries here, just a lowly echo thread :). Just trying to open some eyes, and give these saws a second chance.

Hoping to find a way to add some "wow" to em. work in progress.

Good day sir.
