Yep, must happen to everyone, now I dump the fuel out, run chainsaw dry, and then open up the gas cap and you still can get sprayed!
I've just got in a habit of placing a rag over hand thats pulling the fuel line.

Friend of mine a few years ago got to monkeying around with a jeep after taking the wheels/tires off it...then it setting up on floor jacks, and no jack stands under the frame/axles anywhere. Well, you know the rest of the story.

When I was a teenager, a friend decided to work under his car one Sunday night at a small factory that he worked at on weekends. He was there by himself, and used a stack of cardboard to hold the car up while he worked under it. The car slowly compressed the cardboard and he got stuck. He was found the next morning but didn't make it.

Those pissin carbs have got me several times, the most frustrating when I remember to relieve the pressure the first time, then do some testing, and forget to relieve the pressure the second time!

But the stupidest, jacking up the Mustang on an un level driveway. No need to block the tires, it is in gear. Damn that universal joint was hard to get apart! Good damn thing I was fast as heck back then, got out from under it just in time.

Never made that mistake again! Physically was fine, mentally terrified.

Whether you are cutting trees or working on cars, always be carefully watch for movement and step back when that tree starts to go. It will help to keep you safe.
That's interesting because I had a 1978 F150 Supercab up on ramps working on it. My dad thought I blocked the wheels and I thought he did. (oops). Pulled the drive shaft loose and when the Ujoint separated the truck took off down the ramps and down the driveway, across the street and stopped when it hit the curb on the other side of the street. Meanwhile, I was under it the whole time hanging on for dear life because there wasn't enough clearance for it to pass over me (two wheel drive). Other than looking like a victim of a motorcycle wreck, I was fine (and committed to a higher level of safety)

A friend was out working on his farm with his skidsteer. He always raises the boom and locks it up when he gets out. He got out and reached back in to grab something. Accidentally bumped one of the controls and skidsteer moved forward and knocked him down. Older well used machine so it didn't return to stop position and kept moving. When he fell back he grabbed ahold of the front of the machine so he didn't get run over. He was pulled partially underneath and was then drug all over as the machine drove around in circles. Finally he saw he was going to get pushed through a barb wire fence. One tire drove up over a post, raised the front of the machine up for a bit. He rolled out to the side. He said he laid there for hours passed out. The machine made it over the post and continued on. It took him most of a day to drag himself back to the house. Was in rough shape for a long time.

Monumental .Ford F250 , triaxle trailer ,5 ton bulldozer .Loaded it dead center weight on the center axle .not enough tongue weight .Came over a rise in the road on a down hill run which bounced the rear truck axle up off the road losing steering .Ended up in a plowed field ,no damage except nearly soiled my tighty whiteys .

So along comes a big wrecker and said he could pull me out ,truck and trailer buried to the axles .I laughed and said I could get out myself. He shook his head as I unloaded the dozer and pulled the whole mess out of the muddy field .--chit happens---

The two most recent ones were
a: while loosening the torque converter bolts on Dad's old Z-71 (to do a heart transplant, tranny-in), I'm under it and have two box ends locked together to form a cheater. The bolt finally popped, quite quickly, and the bottom open end opened up my right eyebrow, only missing my eyeball by a bit. God looking out for fools and children is the reason I only had a bloody, black eye and plenty of sting.

b: Ate at Italian Garden a few days ago and had a really rich dish w/a metric crap-ton of dairy. Belly was gurgling the next day and I had a complete failure of the air/chit separator. Got to go home early after that one, but being salary, and it being past noon, didn't cost me anything beyond the wounded dignity... Never trust a fart.

My master plumber buddy hired a "skilled apprentice " lol
His job was to solder shut off valves on new install drinking fountains and sinks toilets etc. in a large multi story building my buddy had checked some of his work but not all and started the pressure test one floor at a time
It cost the insurance company a couple hundred thousand in repairs to computer and drywall etc. Damage because the helper missed several fittings and it flooded a computer room lol

I'm not a pro, but when I built this house I soldered all the fitting myself, and not a single leak. And back then, was just using propane and lead free solder.

By the way, Cute Pup!

The wife just got brand new bright collars for both our dogs. Seem that they like to grab each other's collars and drag each other around the room, so the old collars were getting kinda frayed.

I was only 16, but I knew just about everything in life. I was setting up a bike for the drags and had stripped it down to bare bones. I realized that the kick-starter would fit on the rear brake so I could use it as a brake lever from the leaning position. Looked and worked great!

I wanted to take a run down the street before the drags and my father told me to put the muffler on the bike before I pissed off the neighborhood. I put the muffler on and then took off down the street.

I only took it up to about 60-70 mph and then tried my trick brake set-up - except the freshly installed muffler wouldn't allow me to touch the brake - I was now a passenger. I couldn't make the turn at the end of the street and hit the island before the boulevard. I bounced off the grass and ended up half-way across the boulevard in between the traffic.

Other than grass stains on my T-shirt, I was unharmed - the worst part was pushing the bike back down the street in front of a half dozen friends who were laughing their asses off.
