Homeowner laid a blade spindle from a zero turn down on the parts counter next to me today, absolutely no center, no bearing, no races or even a lip, it was wallowed out oval shaped to with in 1-2" of the outer belt channel. The parts guys said "wow, what did that come off of"?
Homeowner replied "its off of my zero turn, it's a good one I bought at Lowes last fall, it is so smooth i didn't even feel the problem till the belt got tangled up in the blades".

I have no idea how they didn't start laughing at him.

Dealers have Jedi like self control, kind of like I did earlier today when a late eighties GT6000 fell off the rack onto ME while I was trying to put the drive belt back on real quick so the lady could finish mowing her yard and the only thing she was concerned about was that the hood got bent!

I see what you're seeing. Must have been the angle.
That's cool. I know when I was new to saws I'd fixed one, fired it up for a test, no clutch cover and damn thing took off seamed like 100mph across the yard. Funny now, not then.
Was like the old Evil Knievel toy motorcycle gone.

I knew better but couldn't help myself. Told myself I'd fire it up and let it idle but I had to rev it....

I once had to replace the u-joints on the old man's chev truck. Instead of metal circlips, it had injected plastic retainers for the cups. So, a little heat and out comes that plastic like a worm from it's hole. No problem til I got to the last one. That sucker just didn't want to squirt out. Solution: MORE heat! That plastic shot out of there like it was fire from a .270 - got me in the chin and I carried that chunk around for decades before it finally dissolved and disappeared.
