Grandpa always used corn cobs.Use a corn cob or a branch the size of a store bought handle. That’s what I do.

Just drill a hole in a golf ball, excellent handle.
Damn auto correct!!!Morning the auto correct on the Phone was joking, it say you have an injury of hand filing. I say you enjoy hand filing.
Heck yeah same even a full skip would be really sweet. The Dukes chain is the best compared to all chinese brands, if a semi skip chain show up, I will order 100 feet roll.
I've used duct tape before I was really desperate.Use a corn cob or a branch the size of a store bought handle. That’s what I do.
Old golf ball with a hole drilled in it works great! (I see this has already been suggested)I do too. I'm too cheap to buy a file handle.
I just have a old wooden handle one that was left over from all my dad's tools when he passed I think I've used it more than any of the other tools he had lol because I already had my own but it nice and comfortable in the hand compared to the plastic handles. You peeps realize that the Husqvarna file handle don't cost the world and You have to buy it only once.
I got this one in a filing kit.
The kit is poop, the files are good & the handle is sweet.

Or You buy a Archer FastFiler roller guide kit and get this blue one - which I figured out can be a multitool much needed on most Dolmar saws.

That handle is the bomb, I sold the crap out of those! I have two myself...love them. I got one in a kit too...yeah, the kit was crap, but totally worth the handle. You peeps realize that the Husqvarna file handle don't cost the world and You have to buy it only once.

You do what works best for you...as long as you end up with a sharp chain when you are done, that is what matters.I actually have never used a handle, and not because I'm cheap (but I am cheap...). I generally hold the chain with my left hand, so having the tang rest on my wrist gives me more control, and makes it easy to adjust the filing pressure where I want it, i.e., upwards to the tooth or down into the gullet to lower the file.
I’ve never found one brand that didn’t fit anotherI checked on the site for tie straps, but they didn't come up.
Can anyone who has bought a roll tell me what they are using for tie straps?

My roll came with straps
Tri-link (Countryline) does not fit Stihl, Oregon or Husqvarna. Made the mistake of breaking a Tri-link chain for a customer and could not put it back together. Oops!I’ve never found one brand that didn’t fit another
Speaking for rolls of Stihl and Husqvarna chain (I assume will be the same for Oregon, Archer and others), when you buy a roll, several bags of rivets and tie straps come in each box. Got to the point where we had more bags of rivets and tie straps than we could use, so I started putting a price tag on the extras and selling them. Can anyone who has bought a roll tell me what they are using for tie straps?
I had to buy some tri link ones from where my wife works. I use Stihl on Stihl but Oregon had something different with them so even though it fit i wouldn’t use them. May have been slightly smaller rivet than Stihl.Tri-link (Countryline) does not fit Stihl, Oregon or Husqvarna.
