You peeps realize that the Husqvarna file handle don't cost the world and You have to buy it only once.
I got this one in a filing kit.
The kit is poop, the files are good & the handle is sweet.

Or You buy a Archer FastFiler roller guide kit and get this blue one - which I figured out can be a multitool much needed on most Dolmar saws.

I just have a old wooden handle one that was left over from all my dad's tools when he passed I think I've used it more than any of the other tools he had lol because I already had my own but it nice and comfortable in the hand compared to the plastic handles.

I appear to have accidentally hijacked this into a handle thread! My sincere apologies...

I actually have never used a handle, and not because I'm cheap (but I am cheap...). I generally hold the chain with my left hand, so having the tang rest on my wrist gives me more control, and makes it easy to adjust the filing pressure where I want it, i.e., upwards to the tooth or down into the gullet to lower the file.

I checked on the site for tie straps, but they didn't come up.

Can anyone who has bought a roll tell me what they are using for tie straps?

That handle is the bomb, I sold the crap out of those! I have two myself...love them. I got one in a kit too...yeah, the kit was crap, but totally worth the handle.

You do what works best for you...as long as you end up with a sharp chain when you are done, that is what matters.

I’ve never found one brand that didn’t fit another
Tri-link (Countryline) does not fit Stihl, Oregon or Husqvarna. Made the mistake of breaking a Tri-link chain for a customer and could not put it back together. Oops!

Speaking for rolls of Stihl and Husqvarna chain (I assume will be the same for Oregon, Archer and others), when you buy a roll, several bags of rivets and tie straps come in each box. Got to the point where we had more bags of rivets and tie straps than we could use, so I started putting a price tag on the extras and selling them.

Before you break your first chain, if you have a pair of calipers, you might measure first the distance between rivets on both the chain and tie straps to make sure the distance is the same. The only other issue you might run into is the rivets might be a little fatter than the holes on the tie straps - that is the case with the Tri-link (Country Line) chain, the posts are a little fatter than the Stihl, Husqvarna and Oregon tie straps.

I had to buy some tri link ones from where my wife works. I use Stihl on Stihl but Oregon had something different with them so even though it fit i wouldn’t use them. May have been slightly smaller rivet than Stihl.

I got a 50’ roll of the regular dukes chain, hopefully I’ll get a 36” and a 20” made up to run some this weekend. I will make a couple for my tree service friend to try also. He uses a few chains ever year, photo is just one guys chains from last year of dropping off though is probably more than a years worth
