The best I have use so far is a tungsten set from Sears. They are not just coated so I can sharpen when needed.

These will prolly be the last thing I ever buy there though.

I use Viking bits or tarp hard bits. Best you can buy. Nothing drills thru stainless like them also left hand snap on bits work better then regular for some reason

I use Mac tools drill bits. I even have some LH Mac bits. They're a little pricey but they seem to work good for me. Best part is that my Mac tools guy gives me warranty on them. Doesn't matter if they are dull, bent, broken or if I've resharpened them a time or two.

think we're on the wrong topic...I do a lot of machining, I'm starting to think these guys just want regular ole HSS 118 deg. drills...
i just have a 115 pc Chicago Latrobe hss set, but lots of specialty stuff from Chicago Latrobe, Cleveland, OSG, and most other manufactures...

Most of the cutting/tapping/drilling tools from the major players are made by Irwin/Vermont American. I know snap on and Cornwell are both made by Irwin Hansen

How do you bend a drill bit?

I think it happens when the drill bit comes out the other side of whatever it was your drilling and the drill chuck hits and the drill levers over a bit.

I have broken many, but never bent one. At work I hand drill approximately 100-200 holes a week in mild and stainless steels up to 1" thick. I snapped a 1/2" bit in 1/2" mild the other day at home. It took me a few minutes to grind it back and finnish, but finnish I did.
