The expansion chambers (pipes) sound really good. Nice build.
Saw looks and sounds great! Welcome to OPE!
Thank you gents for nice comments and welcome, glad you like them.

-------------------------------------------

One of the tricky parts was that Echo used only one type of cylinder for her, and this cylinder has a exhaust port a little slanted to one side. So when they are placed in opposed positions each of their exhaust ports goes the other way. This required me to make each of their exhaust flanges in different shapes.

Great build Chy, you've put some thought and time into this build
Welcome to the forum
Hello Ajschainsaws, yep I started it early last year so it took me nearly one year. Gas welding to this thin steel sheet was my first try, so it was really a try-and-error to me, lol.
Being disgusted with the terrible seams of my welding on these pipes (as you see on the pics above), had some training on my own, and got a little better now.

So what I call for this part 'Exhaust Converter' was the first point I payed some of my thoughts.

The circumference of the first pipe and the total length of the four sides of the rectangle of the exhaust flange should be the same, or the pipe to be a little bigger than the total length.

Take out the other half of the bat you cut, and give it a slant edge.

Insert it into the first pipe.

And give a couple of good bending to form the same rectangle.

Give the end better finish to match the exhaust flange.

These pipes come downward from the exhaust ports, having not too tight curves since these curves render a lot to the efficiency in flow of high speed gases. Hens I came to a thought that I can not use the genuine under shroud which has a limited room only for her genuine 'flat-box' type muffler. This thought gradually led me to make a 'new' shroud which has a little bigger height under the exhaust ports.

Showing some paper patterns for the new one,
Paper_pattern_00.JPG
copied the patterns to steel sheet, which is 0.8mm thick, is 0.3mm thicker than the material for the pipes.

Damn, we need more pics!
Thanks Deets, here posted new ones.

---------------------------

She needed a new front cover, since her newly applied under cover has some 30mm more in height. First worked with a paper copy ;

At first I thought the cover looks nice with the same design for the air vent holes, but changed my mind to get more holes for better ventilation ;

This genuine front cover had a crack on a bolt hole at the bottom left ;

This also gave me a reason to remake it.

Good afternoon Todd, having a nicest Saturday afternoon there?!
Thanks, but I should make calculation again for her, since the transport angles I put for these pipes were a little too big. I found it several days ago,,,,

I use to own a 440evl before a thief wanted it more than me.
great saw though not the fastest but it was rock solid reliable like all echo products.

Hello Jake nice to see your Echo in your memory, really we should hate thief! Yes not very fast as Dolmar and Jonsered, instead most of them are hard-working and patient workers for a farmer like me. Not so new as yours is but I have one close to it, and she is a bit older, lol ;

Hello Dan, thank you for nice comment and welcome, appreciate it very much. You seem to have a lot of professional skills for making pipes Dan, glad if you could show me here some links to your nicest works.
Chy

I wish that were true. I was trying to figure out why you thought that. Then I remembered my avatar. It's a picture of me standing next to one of Brett's @spencerpaving saws.
Your work is inspiring Chy! It shows what we all can do with an open mind and some ingenuity.
Thank you for joining us!

Exactly Dan, funny but I was really believing that you are the master of pipe making. Now wish to see some artistic works of Brett, and learn something from them!
Thanks it's an impressive information.
