Good deal

I have a ms 170 but my Schwarzenegger hands won't fit in the tank/ handle area or between the half wrap bar and cylinder cover :(

I have posted this video before but I'll post it again but for a different reason this time.

An 066 isn't going to ever get much harder to start than these two. Both cylinders had more than .070 cut from the base and have a squish no greater than .020. Timing was advanced about as much as one would want to go on both saws.

No trouble from not useing a decomp when starting either

Mine in the video doesn't have a decomp but my 660 does but at 230 as soon as you pull the rope it pops shut so why bother with it.

My dad has one of my stock 660's and he likes the decomp but it works on it because of stock compression.

The only saw I've ever thought about using it is my 394 but it pops shut soon as you turn it over too.

I have notice that the decomp close a lot of times in my 461 after one pull maybe one and half, i speak for a stock saw

I've noticed that a new one will resist shutting more than a old one.

After a certain amount of compression they become useless.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread but a husky decomp valve are much better than a stihl one.

do the husky valves close at a higher compression?

To tell you the real truth my friend this is a dificult to answer it 100% you must test a lot of saws in laboratory conditions , with the same compressions etc,etc
for having a good answer about how the decomps react
they only that i have notice is that the husqys decomps have biger holes than the stihls , maybe this is one reason that they dont close so often like the stihls
but dont take it like a 100% answer , just try and put wich feel better to you

stihl saws

You can always justify another saw.

I'll keep my decomps until they show me a reason to plug them. It's pretty hard to crank any saw other than a top handle if your strapped to a tree. You'll welcome that decomp if you have to drag up a big saw.

Decomps have their place, and that sounds like a good scenario for em. I generally don't take my high comp. saws up in the basket.

I generally like decomps, especially at the end of a long day, and if I have to start a saw from an awkward position. Usually a warm saw will start right up with the decomp.

Excessive compression & timing may interfere with them working properly, but they work just fine on my ported saws.

I especially liked them a couple of years ago when I split over 15 cord by hand and started getting tennis elbow! Even learned to start the saws left handed that year! Glad that went away.
