Hi Folks.

With a new Stihl rim sprocket costing just under $100 in Australia, I went looking for a cheaper alternative for my 026.
The cheap one I got doesn't fit well and the worm gear spring drops out of the groove.

Oregon only seem to offer one to suit the earlier pre X25809074
I checked the local Australian GB website and they are the same.

I cant find anything decent?

Do Oregon make one to fit the later 026's

What options do I have without having to take out a loan for a Stihl one that then locks me into the Stihl mini spline sprockets which are way overpriced as well.

No, Oregon does not offer rims for the Stihl mini 7-spline drums. What you got likely is a small 7-spline rim.

I assume it is the result of some deal between Stihl and Oregon, as Stihl wants you to use their own (more expensive, but same quality as Oregon) rims.

Na I was after the entire sprocket.

I did find the Oregon one in Ebay but I can only seem to source it from America with the searching I have done.
I found one in Australia but its about $70

I have inquired with a local GB dealer and he has one on the shelf about 2 minute drive from my house but its a spur sprocket. $28 :)
I will take the saw to make sure it fits first, I am over chain sprockets that dont fit.

A long time ago , Gregg (when he was with Baileys) got an Oregon drum and standard splined rim to fit my old 026 .

Check with a sponsor , if they can order it for you.

Yes, Oregon does offer replacements drums for the small 7-spline rims for that saw.

If the saw will be used a lot, investing in one of those is better than buying a spur one, which don't operate as smoothly.

As it looks to me, the only sponsor here is HL Supply, so I don't know if we are allowed to mention Greggs current "operation"?

Hi SawTroll

The saw wont get used a lot.
Its my small saw for limbs and smaller timber.

My other saws run rim sprockets...... is there much difference when cutting?

don't see why not troll.greg really doesn't offer much that hl has and vise versa.

I found the Oregon drum I need on Ebay in the US for about $40 delivered.
It comes without the sprocket but I already have about 6 small spline rim sprockets that will fit on the Oregon so that will work.

I refuse to buy the Stihl one because it locks you into using their stupid micro spline sprockets.

I think I paid $23. drum and rim plus shipping, when Baileys had reasonable shipping rates, but that was 6-7 years ago.

You got it right - unless you want to run Picco chain on that saw at some point. ;)
