I prefer a rear handle when not standing in the whole top on the ground. They do kick back in there digging around. I don't one hand anything on the ground with any saw.
The 201 in either flavor will handle a 16" fine. Bump the timing and mod the muffler and it's a great running saw. Steve is right the rear handle version is safer for ground use if your not used to using a top handle saw.
