And just when I thought I knew every use for #9 wire. Just can't imagine how dangerous this saw is.

How is the sideways balance with the custom handle?

He must keep the chain in tip top shape. I don't see that wire holding up to much pull or push!

Another old fart that is still stuck on 1700s pricing.

I've had a million customers like that. Here's one. Had a craftsman lawn mower come in. Needed LOT's of tlc. Engine's air filter was packed with dust to the point where you didn't even know a filter was there! He told me he only cleaned it 3 times a year. Huh....Oil is filthy and low...WONDER WHY???? Engine runs fine cold, but is super hard starting when hot. Rings are shot or the valve seats are gone. One of the plugs had so much carbon build up you couldn't see the electrode. And no....he doesn't want me to touch the engine. The blades need sharpening and one is slightly bent....oh...just replace the bent blade and don't bother sharpening the other two. Well, not my fault he wanted a half crap job done! And if he ever calls and complains I'll give him a piece of my mind.

Your best of not dealing with people like that. He will go around telling people about the "bad job" you did when his mower craps out.

HA! Reminds me of when my BIL gave me a Craftsman mower after the engine died. I needed one so I took it off his hands for free and thought I might fix it. He kept complaining that it failed right after he chanced the oil. I didn't bother asking him how long ago he changed it prior but I imagine it was a long time. When I opened the engine I found one large rod end seized to the crank and disintegrated. Somehow it managed not to port the crank case or cylinder.

we have a rider in here right now that this will be the first oil change since they bought it, 10 yrs ago!

Be careful Nate, had one like that with an 11HP Briggs that I drained the tar out of and put fresh oil in, the old engine didn't like the taste of the new SAE30 so much it promptly spit it out, along with the rod!

lol! Would hurt like a *b-word to have to support the weight of the saw on something as narrow as that wire.

If I was gonna "afro engineer" that sucker, I'd take an old leather belt, double it up for extra thickness, probably burn up some rivets to join the belt together. Maybe could do some wire and epoxy on the underside to stiffen it up a bit.

Going full on ghetto, cut up an old tire, and sandwich the wire between two layers of tread. Now THAT would be some mad max ness. :D

But to be a real badass, break out the anvil, bend up some rebar, then hammer the ends flat, and drill the holes through the flats so you can get the mountings good and tight. Paint the rebar orange, black, silver to taste. Or just use that u dip it tool handle maker rubber.

Well, we are a well known shop in this small town with 30 years of great reputation so his word would probably be ignored by most.
