Anybody ever try one of these late model MTD/Remington made Craftsmans? Looks like it would be a fun saw to play with for cheap, or a good backup/loaner.

I've looked at them at Lowe's, not impressed with an Chinese made mtd saw. I'd buy a throw away plastic Poulan pro before one of those.

Got this beauty from member Hunter 72, its almost exactly like the Craftsman 2.3 my grandfather had. His saw was a little older with points ignition and no hand guard. As an aside, its sitting on my 1990 Murray 12/38 which replaced the riding mower my grandfather had when he died.

Had one of these until recently. When I got it, I had very little experience with 2 cycle engines (not that I'm a guru now or anything, lol). Used it here and there with a bad tune cuz I didn't know any better. I now know it was running like doo-doo. Then parked it in the corner of the garage, with fuel in it no less, for about 18 months...maybe 2 years. When I found you fools here, I dug her back out. Dumped the fuel, dumped the carb in the ultrasonic and she popped off after five pulls. Tuned the carb properly and she ran a ton better than before. Opened up the muffler, did my first muff mod, and put some decent chain on her. After that, it was like yours, never failed to start on three to four pulls. 1-2 on choke and 1-2 without. Only reason I got rid of it was that EZ adjust bar and tool-less chain cover combo crap. Other than that I enjoyed it, a lot! Had I changed those out I might not have terminal CAD today......who am I kidding, I was already hiding saws from the wife when I sold that one. :angel2:

I recently started collecting small chainsaws. Any brand. I snagged 2 of these recently for what I thought was a fair price. Both run excellent. Both needed air filters, one was missing its fuel line. I put new filters and lines on both. The saw not pictured is a pieced together saw. Its 1/2 grey 1/2 red. It's going to my cousin in a trade.

That's an uncommon one, has the Poulan 2000/2300 style architecture but painted red like the previous S25 series.

What can the experts tell me about this. Offered to me today for $20. Friends dad is to old use it anymore. Sat last 3-4 years. Gas is getting bad but not full stank yet. Came with the Stihl case.

They suck.

I'll give ya 60 for it.
