Is there another clutch drum for these saw to run 3/8 lp instead of the 1/4 chain.
If so you have a part number?

I have no way to sharpen the baracuda style chain on mine and figired i would switch over if posible. Mabe not worth it either. Just go buy a 1/4 chain for it?

I have so many parts for these s25 variants. I likely have a clutch or two.

Keep this link in your favorites.

Here's the 3/8 lo pro sprocket - Oregon 28006

It will work on all of the Poulan s25 variants and Craftsman versions.

The 1/4" chain is available. You just have to count the links before ordering.

For the money that you are going to pay for a sprocket, bar and chain you could probably buy a used saw for cheaper. And have a parts saw left over.

Pick this up for 20 bucks yesterday. Still has the stock 18" bar. I have been looking for a Poulan 2400 for quite some time. They are getting harder and harder to find. A good clean up, base gasket delete, timing advance, slight porting, fine tuning and fresh loop of PS3 should make it a good runner.

Nice. Are these older saws clamshell? Or built like pro saws of today?

2.3 cubic inch / 38cc non clamshell design. Case reed intake. None of the older Poulan's or Poulan's that were rebadged Craftsman were clamshells. The "newer" ( some are starting to get pretty old now) versions with a primer are clamshell.

So is ther a way to sharpen this style chain without the special stone?

There's no way without the old stone actually mounted in the chain cover. The new powersharp setup will not work. It clamps on the "special" power sharp bar and sharpens at the tip.

Can you not sharpen it like a regular chain? Been several years since I ran that saw, but that is what I did last time.

Don't know. My saw with the barracuda still has the stone so never tried. If it works with regular filing and hitting the rakers post up a pic please.

Well i figured i would try to sharpen that barracuda chain. I used a small flat file and just tried to keep the same angle. It accually is making chios now vs the powder it made befor.

Mabe i will break down and buy a normal chain sometime but this works for now.
Gonna use this little saw just for marking the fire wood length.

Thought I could show two of the color coded models. If anyone has a service manual for the 2.1 I might rub your feet for a week. Thanks. Be nice to find the blue one.DSCF2337.JPG DSCF2338.JPG
