Thanks for the info. The regular price on the 5.2 was $464.00. According to the inflation calculator, $464.00 in 1980 has the purchasing power of about $1400.00 today.

Most chainsaws were a sizeable investment back then. Even the homeowner versions. A Homelite Super XLAO was $270.00 in 1976

I think my FIL has a Sears Craftsman that was made by Homelite. Auxiliary oiler button if I remember. I will see if I can get a photo. Probably take me a while though. Saw ran good back in the day.

Interested to know more about the one on the right. Is it a 3.7?

I just wouldn't want to be the guy on the end of the bar.

Yeah it's a little bit intimidating. Ask Mark aka @ChipsFlyin he was on that end a couple times last spring.

It's not scary like you might think. Borrowed pic and vid from FHC.

Just enough pressure to keep the saw's RPM in the sweet spot.

Thanks, ManofStihl.

Believe I have same saw from my father. Late 60s? It has that interesting power sharp on it.

What ratio do you run in it? If I remember my childhood, I think dad mixed 16:1, or something similarly unheard of today.

Two stroke oils are much better today. I'm sure you could run 32:1 or even 40:1 with a modern synthetic.
