I had an RD350 as well. ‘72 I think. Rascal was fast as it could be.
It wasn't fast in my opinion it was quick. It maxed out at about 130mph (it was there in a heartbeat). a Kawasaki 500 h2 was FAST and the 750 H! was nasty. multi cylinder 2 strokes rule!

I have to say I rode the H2 but never had the chance to experience the H1. I was doing 135mph in 4th @ 5,500 rpms when I let off,it redlined @ 8 and it still had 5th. I cannot imagine the H1.

The H2 was easily rideable, at least the three I had were. The one H1 I had wanted to either accelerate or decelerate, it did not like to keep a steady pace at any rpm. And it was noticeably more brutal.

That H2 had some port work and tunes (expansion chambers) it didn't have a throttle it had a trigger.

If anyone ever builds a set of pipes for the twin, I hope you take listen to some 1970's era Bill Wirges pipes for the H2-750 Kaw. (damn, that blue '72 paint looked good!)
When the tail section had a fresh fiberglass job, they had a nice idle tone.
Not earsplitting, just an authoritative throaty phump phump phump. you can still hear the rings-a-dingin
Made plenty of racket under load though.
Thin steel that flexed and you could hear the exhaust bouncing inside.
I tried to find a good video of one (wearing good chambers and well packed tips) at idle, but had no luck.

Remember how when you were just rolling into it good and could hear that certain intake noise as the motor was just below the powerband, but abooouut to be there?
what was it, maybe about 3800~4100 where it started to be heard?

4k rpm was the light switch powerpoint for my H1. Ride the bike in 3rd at 2500 rpm and dial the throttle down. She'd burble nicely until that sweet spot. The the scream would come just as the front end would point upward.

I only ever got to ride the one '72 model 750.
I was 16 years old and my Brother in law owned the Kaw.
My Mom would have had a fit, IF, She had understood what He (regularly) handed me the key to!
Ah but I got to help change tires & spokes, chains & sprockets.
Still wish I could afford to track down a nice RD350.

There was a nice RD350 on eBay several years ago, was the same straw/orange color as mine. Was like going back in time. I don’t remember what the asking price was. I didn’t even consider buying it. 3 wrecks in one month ended my motorcycle career back in the 70’s. Actually 4, but I don’t think the last one was within that month. I wonder if that dirt bike is still in the woods where I left it. I never rode again.
