Won’t hurt a thing to fatten it up a bit.

Unless it's burning assembly oil, muffler paint or some crappy oil it's s smoking after a brief idle after each cut. I'd say it's a sharper tune then most run here. I'd bet alot of stock and ported saws are kept far below potential performance.
And are leaving alot on the table. I think I wouldn't go any faster then that on a saw so rare. And would go richer in any situation when any harder or longer cuts were made. Nice saw and nice job on getting it going good.

To many round here run their saws overly rich. To often you see a modded saw running so fat it defeats point of doing performance work on it in the first place. That's why those same people can't believe how well their Mtronic saws run, and its because they are removed from the tuning equation. You can here that twin 4 stroke during the first two cuts whenever the load is eased. Too Lean ...

Too many around here run their saws overly lean because they think it increases the performance. That's why those same people are buying new pistons and cylinders. I don't hear 4 stroking in the later cuts. The OP can run it to whatever tune he wants as far as I am concerned. It might cut forever the way it is tuned now as far as I know.

Let's see....Solo Twin around 1965 to 2020 is what (not great at math) is about half a century or more....I'd bet that saw is older than 99% of saws on this planet, and my guess is it made it this far by not being lean seized or poorly tuned. Without listening to the video, just going on those numbers alone, my guess is that saw will likely survive another day. I would'nt loose any sleep worrying about it. Life is too short to have a saw miss fire through a cut, if I wanted that I'd buy a 4stroke. I tune four stroking OUT of my 2T's when under load. 4 stroking is a bad condition for your saw to operate under, it ruins power and is just plain no good. Everyone talks about how 'good' 4stroking is, while its inherent with these carb saws that they will when their speed increases to much, I don't want my saws 4stroking under work operation at all. I think one of the 2strokes best features is that they fire every 2 Strokes.

Hey Guys, there’s no one more concerned with the health of that saw than me. I was hoping for comments concerning the tune because many eyes/ears are better than one and I appreciate all the comments. I plan to pull the plugs when I get home and look at them. Regardless of how I find them I will probably either leave it be or richen it up a tad.
Prolly can’t hurt and as little as I’ll use it it should be fine. I can hear it 4 stroking in all but one of the latter cuts. Guess you had to be there. But, better safe than sorry. Thanks to all! I hope to be near a GTG to share it one day.

Here’s the plugs. I’m very interested in what you all think. Lemme know! DF70C159-EC80-4751-B03D-FF9AE1BD92E0.jpeg
And I can say that they looked exactly like this when I pulled them for the first time, before i ran the saw.

I’ll probably just leave it get way it is. I may have richened it just a hair yesterday afternoon before running it. (can’t remember if I did or not)And I ran it just like the video but for about 30 mins. before allowing it to cool and then shutting it off.
This saw runs so good (the way it is) that I haven’t even cleaned it up yet. Not sure if I ever will.

This is my recently acquired 110cc. Is proving to be an awesome saw. Great SOUND !
Cool saw, sounds angry.
Now have someone make You a race chain.

Cant believe my RPM phone app only showed 8500 rpm in the cut! Sounds so cool!
Does Your app take into consideration its a two cylinder engine?

8500 rpm in cut would not be bad for an old school vintage saw, that would put some modern saws to shame.

Sure does, showed 17000 when set on 1 cylinder. Curious to see if @av8tor 3 gets similar reading when he checks with a tach. Still sounds crazy fast.

I’m afraid that will have to wait until next weekend. I couldn’t get around to it today. I will do it though, am very interested.

Speaking of sound, What's that I hear in the background? Kinda sounds like wind chimes or bells with a long sustain or maybe the wind has something singing?
Seemed to be off to the left of frame, or the way you were facing while cutting.
Sorry if it's addressed in the comments. Youtube changed something a while back and now comments no longer are visible in this browser.

...and yeah, that's a wicked sounding idle.

That would be my wife’s wind chime collection. You probably noticed the wind blowing up my butt about halfway thru the video. They’re exactly where you described , about 40 feet up.

Kinda agree with both of you, if that makes any sense.

I ran MT saws all weekend and found that they do sound like they have nearly no 4 stroke on top when warm, yet they live with perfect slugs. But, they autotune in the cut, and 4 stroking at piss rev doesn’t relate to optimal tune in the cut.

Most of my self tune saws will perform differently in different sized wood at different tunes. In general, my bigger saws make more power when tuned fat in big wood, even if they sound like the rpm is lower, they gain torque from the added fuel.

Anyway, wasn’t trying to upset this awesome thread about this Holy Grail of a saw. I’d be more afraid of ruining it, than a more commonly available one.

No upset taken! Your comments and observations are very much appreciated. Thanks for jumping in.
