Hi guys, I attempted to order rings for my 361 from the local Stihl dealer - apparently a minimum of 4 week backorder.
So now I'm contemplating aftermarket Caber rings, however I'm reading that some folks like the Cabers, others mention that the Cabers are hard and not recommended....or am I just overthinking this?
Thanks for any input!

I've only used 60+ sets of cabers
Rebuilding saws
So I'm no expert
But I've never had a saw come back
Same with oem rings of course.

any specific reason you don't like them? this is what scares me.....do they tear the bore up or something?
I looked at several places to order the rings from, i have not seen any option of ordering standard vs fcast -where do you guys get the "standards" from?

Fcast are harder and more brittle. They take longer to seat too. Not sure where they would be an advantage? Just my 2 cents.

I'm assuming the fcast would be tough on aftermarket cylinder plating

I have an email into Caber asking pros/cons of fcast, and in what instances one should or should not use them....since they offer a choice I certainly would like to know when and where to use which!
Good idea please post it if you get an answer.

I'd like to see this too - I've used probably over 200 Meteor piston kits and maybe 40 sets of their rings (no F-cast though, that I'm aware of).

I've bought meteor piston kits and caber rings from the Greek on eBay
Northwood saw,hl supply.amazon
And Bailey's
And have never seen an fcast
Must be special order.

I did buy at least 1 set of F cast rings. Can't say how they ran since I broke the first one going on the piston. The second is probably still on the bench somewhere.
