It has had almost 10 tanks through it, and compared to the 661, it is burning more fuel. I thought it might be what you stated, but something just isn’t right, especially in that second video. It is running way richer than an mtronic saw. We tached it, and when you hold it WOT, it was only going to 10-11k rpm sometimes. It seems like most videos I have seen of it running, it consistently hits the rev-limiter, and this one is not.
That thing is PIG rich so....Take apart something and clean it. I bet that injector is whacked out. HotRods saw goes right to 13.5k out of the box. It don't stink or run rich.
Your muffler says somethings wonky on the fuel injector. Maybe you got one with fines in it. It happens during cleaning sometimes. Shows up after the fact or first test runs. We all had this happen with stuffs. Your running like 8-1 fuel/air ratio...it's horrible!
80-1 mix won't help that.

91 octane non-ethanol
Red Armor 40:1
Air filter working well.
Take off the filter and the muffler o_O....you'll be better off

Yea I could really care less what the epa and others have to say about this matter. Just thought I would share my experience of awareness when dealing with foreign saws at a typical USA dealer. I doesn't bother me if anyone gets in trouble, just putting a warning out there, that's all.
I do still enjoy this thread. Thanks for the vids clearcut!
Dear friend Happy New Year
Life is already hard with conspiracies, lies and scary thoughts lets make it easier.
Starting with this policy is one thing, law is another thing and common sense a different planet.

Let me give an example: if Friday i bought an Ms500i brand new with my presence at my local Stihl store. And Friday night i meet a beautiful girl and need money. Who's going to disturb me from EBAYING my brand new saw? Nobody really cause the saw after leaving the store is good for further private sales.

The Stihl company just wouldn't like their stores to sell internationally or selling without presence. That's it just a policy good or bad.

Ebay is full of NEW OEM Stihl Saws, have you ever heard problems with those sales? Nope cause they cannot and they actually don't want to intervene. Simple as that.

On the other hand Stihl by Law should take care the saw service and guaranty anywhere in this planet.

If it was me I would certainly give them my serial number requesting to learn everything for my saw such as batch, original country of origin etc. You learn alot of useful details with your serial number.

i will not comment more on this as the post is veering away from purpose

Happy New Year again

Stihl has a lot more power in North America than the EU. We've had members receive cease and desist letters from Stihl headquarters regarding sales of Arctic saws.

"Seems" is the word...
Well it's like anything else actually purposely build to do the same job or better.

The unknown is what makes you think different.
It’s just a whole different breed than a 461 to me, for example. Not necessarily a bad thing. The 461 is a proven, reliable, and productive saw here in the Pacific Northwest. Lots of people like the solid build and rubber mounts. Some guys are in love with the 462, and others, not so much.
I am very surprised (assuming this is normal) at the fuel consumption of the 500i compared to a 461. And the sloppiness of the AV. Those two reasons could be a big turn-off to fallers here. Not the cost of fuel, but the production loss of all the fuel-ups, and extra fuel being carried. The 462 and 500i are a very different breed than the older Stihls. However, they are very lightweight, and people love lightweight. The 462 has been a great saw in some applications, and so far I have heard of no abnormal problems with it.

Enjoying this thread @CLEARCUT , hope you figure out what’s holding your saw back.
Thank you. I hope to as well. It would be nice if there were other 500’s around just so I had a comparison. I have learned that opinions vary so much on saws. Mine as well. One person hates a saw for some reason, the next guy loves it for the same reason. It’s kinda funny.

Nobody has any power at a private sale.
As you wrote it's between dealership sales...which is not the case here.

I've been racking my brain to help Colton get this saw running right. PM sent @CLEARCUT

I'm thinking that if the issue is not electronics based, it has to be in fuel supply/return.

It may just be as simple as a bad flippy cap on this thing that is causing wonky tank pressure? Not sure, worth checking.

Here's a vid showing how the FI works on the 500i. At 0:14 in the video shows the fuel return.

Just an idea any chance the long bars that we run out here with all the extra vibes it’s causing are the reason for the excessively high fuel consumption?

I didn't say anything about dealer to dealer. The member I'm talking about is/was a private seller.
I've read a thread here about Stihl police tracing artic saws and warn the member and the dealer he purchased the saw from. He's Canadian but I can't remember who but he is a member at this site.

Once again everyone is confusing dealerships and private sales.

The post is derailed already and i only like beautiful women derailments.

Inside this forum i was fortunate enough to meet people (builders and users) that they honored me with their knowledge, their help and mostly with their patience treating me as a long time friend instead of a stranger while myself hungry to ask billions of questions some of them stupid. And i always return the respect i ve got.

Helped a few people acquire new saws they wanted and from A to Z i made sure the little magic Pink Guaranty paper always escorted the saws with their names. This was to make sure nobody worldwide could take from them the saw or the service and benefits of that.

Private sale has no problem and can't violate a policy cause there is none included other than the private agreement between seller and buyer. Seller never has to be investigated for what reasons he offered his own property.

i ve been in the same policies before decades when i wanted carb and exhausts for my KTM bikes that could not be bought outside their networks by their policy. Well at the end i imported them and my bike was getting serviced in an official dealership without any problems.

Yes it definitely is. And there’s really not much to hate about saws now days from any brand. The 500i that I ran last spring had a 28” bar on it and it cut like a champ in white oak. Wasn’t broken in, think it was on its first tank of fuel. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Game changer is what immediately came to my mind. Didn’t care for the mushy AV but that wouldn’t stop me from buying one. I’m just a weirdo that likes the solid rubber mounts on my old 2-series hooskies...lol
