Closed center valve is making a hell of a racket. But when I convert it to open center my three point lift doesn't work correctly.

I'm thinking that I've plumbed into the wrong port.

Sounds stupid but if it has a detent/check valve and the valve is older it could be stuck. Or its plumbed incorrectly

New valve. Impossible to plump wrong.

Pressure may be too high for it.

YEP! OR SWITCH LINES AROUND ON THE VALVE BODY.
Is there a restricter valve(sleeve) that needs to be in place?

New valve. Impossible to plump wrong.

Pressure may be too high for it.

Is it hooked to hydrostatic system? A standard 3500 psi or whatever valve won't like 20,000 psi... it's like special valves and cylinders on the John Deere garden tractors... built for that pressure, whereas a log splitter valve might not like it.

Be careful with that hydro stuff... pinpoint leaks (shooting a straight stream) will cut your finger off. And if the valve decides to burst due to too much pressure, well that is like a grenade.

I know it's a new valve but we've had small chunks of debris/metal from manufacturing get stuck and not allow valves to open or close properly.
