The 50cc might be to vague for a rule almost need to pick a saw to build or at least limit it to a homeowner series saw because we all know an ms261 or 346xp and a ms250 or a 350 husky aren’t a fair fight. Unless a 346 cylinder is on the 350

Exactly

I’d be really interested to know what’s available to you guys for cheap on you local used market. Let say under $100 and more than one available of the same model. So far for me it’s wild things and 50cc craftsmans. Oh and poullans. This thread is gauging the interest in something like this and so far it seems like there’s a few people who are entertaining the idea and that’s awesome. But I don’t know what’s available on the used market to everyone. I’ve seen to many posts saying I couldn’t afford to get involved I don’t want that to be a problem as much as we can avoid it. Sure the saws aren’t going to be of a super high quality, but so what. You aren’t going to have to be in it for very much money and you might have one buried under your pile of pro saws. Yep I got a pile of pro saws to and need another saw like another hole in the head but it’ll be fun and we’ll probably all learn something. Even if it is that our neighbor has a super dookie saw and their mental fortitude must be off the charts to deal with the thing.

How ironic. I inspected one of those today. It all looked really good until I pulled the muffler. Are pistons available for these?

I certainly am no threat to winning a speed cutting contest.
But may challenge myself to get it running while playing along.

Check eBay you can probably find some good used parts on there for cheap.

This is cool. I like the idea of a cheap saw build off. After all its prob were we all started. I have a few wild things. 2-3 months ago i pitched a dozen 42cc poulans and craftsmans:eek: i could have supplied the whole build off crew. Lol! I just picked up friday a husky 440 for cheap that needs some tlc and some parts. Perfect clammy for this build off. Ill be following this thread.

I have a 36cc craftman with its 16" bar and a Pico chain on it. Been slowly working on it as a fun project.

Made a little video for s buddy that wanted to see it work.
I have a green 40cc one that runs just like that, I love it! File the chain stupid aggressive and it just eats. Smokes some stock 50cc saws.

I want to see how that hole got burned through the chain brake. It must have been a 15min stump cut with a dull chain.

I never see the hows, I just see the aftermath. The two complete ones start up good, idle smooth, and rev fine in the shop. Wouldn't take much to out cut even a heavily modded wild thing.

On AS they did a wild thing build off. 40cc-42cc years back. Little clamshell saws. free to $50 most times.

I always remember this one Brian in Canada built for fun.

Looks like a Harley with all that *s-word hanging off of it. I'm guessing it was faster than one!

That’s exactly why it’d only be fair to all be on the same platform. Plus it’s easier for someone to learn through forums when working on the same thing. That’s if we share with each other.
